Re: The NEW and IMPROVED DURYEA HILLCLIMB
Guys, Can we put this to rest,I probably have the most experience of anyone concerned when it comes to setting up protective devices on this hill. I have been doing it for close to 35 years. I have cleaned up alot of messes and retreived alot cars, not only that but I have been in the top ten percent...

Re: The NEW and IMPROVED DURYEA HILLCLIMB
When I was a kid, they would give me a couple hundred feet of rope and leave me there on a Friday stopping by every so often to see how it was going or if I tied myself up.The trick to the tire wall was how you laced it so when it go hit it tighted up. Dave is right, I have seen some of worst acciden...

Re: The NEW and IMPROVED DURYEA HILLCLIMB
Guys, Sorry for the mispelling but you knew what I meant. The only place where you would want to bolt tires together is at the beginning of a guard rail but I think the water barrel would displace more energy. At 7 we use to stand the tires up and lace them together with rope. It took two people a li...

Re: The NEW and IMPROVED DURYEA HILLCLIMB
Many events that have Armco don't have energy absorbers so I don't see it as a big deal. That is also why I suggested the water filled barrels placed in front of it,the barrel will absorb most of the impact. In the 70's we had barrels lined up thru that area just in case someone tried to go into gras...

Re: The NEW and IMPROVED DURYEA HILLCLIMB
Rich , Personally I would rather they put a radiused end there, but then who knows what would happen.A car could hit it and possibly get shot across the road and into the woods.I think a 55 gal. plastic drum filled with water with the bungs left out placed in front of that end would work well. Just h...

Re: DROPS
The Drops have been around forever and I have no problem with that.I can remember when I was an avid hillclimber I was also a member of US Navy Reserve and on more than one occasion needed those Drops to keep me in the points. We're not paid to do this and in my life,my family and my job come before ...

Re: The NEW and IMPROVED DURYEA HILLCLIMB
Well on my way home from work today I saw that someone tested the energy absorber at O-Shit. Apparently when you hit these things and they retract and the guardrail peels out the side like a ribbon. The first 3 posts are wood and bolted into a peice of steel box tube stuck in the ground. As the vehi...

Re: Liberty Bell Motorsports Park
I talked to my Township Solicitor last nite at our Township Christmas Party and asked her about it. Libert Bell is also one of their clients, she said it will now go to State Court to be heard. Which is good for Mascaro, however the lawyer for the other side is considred to be one of the best Land u...

Re: The NEW and IMPROVED DURYEA HILLCLIMB
Today when they quit for the day they were all the way down between 4 and 5. When your your coming into 5 it's comforting to know there is now something to keep you from going over the edge. These guys are doing between 800 and a 1000 ft per day.

Re: The NEW and IMPROVED DURYEA HILLCLIMB
The good thing about Armco is that you will usually skate along it and not do much damage to it unless you go head into it.I don't think this stuff will give much, those I beams must be driven like 3-4 ft into the ground.

Re: BMR Event Discounts
How can you disallow low front hoops for Formula Cars when SCCA says thats all we need. Also there are formula cars out there like Tammy's and Bob Jr's that have the extended roll hoop braces that give them protection. Not to beat a Dead Horse but maybe we should be l;ike drag racing. In drags if you...

The NEW and IMPROVED DURYEA HILLCLIMB
Driving up Duryea on my way home from work as I do everyday, I noticed Pa One Call markings all over the road and wonder what was happening. Well yesterday I found out, they are installing Armco all the way up the hill. They already have it between Oh Shit and the Pagoda and now they are working th...

Re: Duryea Hillclimb Party
I personally like the Liederkranz, since it's so close to the track you don't have to be so rushed and if you want beer other than what is on tap you can buy it.As far as food ,I believe if we spent as much per person there the menu could be changed to something other than chicken and pasta. The onle ...

Thanksgiving vs weight
Morg,
I'll be sure to tell her. We'll get our exercise next week in Disney World. She usually can outlast us down there.

Hey Morgan,
In FV they say 10 lbs. equals one horsepower. If thats the case if I loose what I should it would be like having nitrous.
