I figured I'd start a seperate link for this discussion. Personally I believe you would be better off to work with the present organizers. They have the necessary contacts with the town and the airport. It took them quite a while to develop this program and I think they would appreciate being involved. This is just my opinion of course. Dave Williams is the contact person and you can e-mail him from the "contact" section at the bottom of their website. http://www.nationalroadautosport.com The entire airport is not available for a course as was used in the early SCCA years, but the area they use is large enough to have something on the order of about 7/10 of a mile I would guess. You may just want to go out to run one of their weekends and get to know everyone and scout it out. With my formula ford 1600 I saw right at 80 MPH on the longest straight the one event I ran with them back in 2003.

Well, that's completely up to those who want to organize it. I have little to do with that end of it... I was just trying to determine the suitability of the site. Don't get me wrong, I think it would be great to run there, but someone else needs to get the whole thing together if they want it.

I believe someone from DC Region is looking into it.

Matt,
I understand, but I figured that the DC folks might be checking this site too now. I have no contact with them and am just trying to give my impressions and the little I know about the site. I'd love to see the DC crowd become more involved myself. There does seem to be some interest.

Like I mentioned on the other thread , we seem to want road course events and if we could run this in April what a great tune-up opportunity.
(Makes a lot more sense than Northern NY in October...)

As someone mentioned above Cumberland is 63 mi west of the I-81/I-70 intersection. Get on to I-68 at Hancock MD, get off at Exit 43B.
Left at stop, right at next stop.
Follow signs for AIRPORT
Turn left after crossing Potomac River. Follow Airport Road.
