I can't really vote given the options provided.

I would vote "yes," as I plan on attending but I will not be attending at "any cost" and I do not need "perks" to go.

I guess I should just put undecided, but that doesn't really reflect my level of commitment. I am much more interested in doing a new hill than I would be in doing Jfferson twice.

I think the official name is the Polish Mountian Hillclimb per Dave's post.

" FYI, we voted a few nights ago to make the official name of our emerging event "The Polish Mountain Hillclimb"."

Do we know if it has a nice pit area and if we can camp there?

Oh no, not more campaign polls :) My day job includes wayyyy too much work as a political operative.

To provide some background, Brian, our Polish Mountain venue plans include camping. The hillclimb site is actually inside the Green Ridge State Forest and only five miles from Rocky Gap State Park, with its 238 acre lake, Maryland's most popular public camp ground and a public 18 hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Course with 200 room resort for families and luxury oriented racers.

As a destination attraction you can add historic Cumberland's revived arts and entertainment district, the steam train and the just-completed Allegany Highlands Bike Trail that runs from Pittsburgh to DC and right through the middle of Cumberland. That's the pretty turn of the century town center where your car won it's show trophy in 2005.

We have several options for pit areas and can clarify in coming weeks....the best tarmac area is a mile away at the Flintstone Volunteer Fire Hall, plenty of fields in friendly hands right at the grid, as well.

Stan can testify that we have a pretty slick program planned :D

Camping is a big plus! It keeps the budget in order. Thanks for the info Dave. The event sounds better all the time.

HI,

As far as I've seen there is a large pit camping area right at the starting line. It's basicly Rose Valley camping but flat. Nice sized field.

Y I Voted YES

Post by veehive »

Well, I just voted a big fat YES. My main interests are: that the Polish Mountain Hillclimb brings a hillclimb that much closer to me (nearest now would be RoseValley, @ 5 hours one-way), that my Steel Cities Region comerades are involved (hi, Ray!) and I'm sure other Steel Cities gyze will show up (hi, Mike! hi, Glenn!), and finally, with a name like Polish Mountain, I just know it's made for me -- after all, I live in Poland, Ohio!

Hi guys

What perks would we be talking about? A well run event, a good hill, and a convenient (on site) pit area that allows overnight camping, and maybe the promise of good weather is all I need.

Kurt

Hey Tim...did you write this poll all by yourself!

Add a decent party on Sat. night to what Kurt said and they're perks enough!

Polish Hillclimb

Post by John Pitman »

I sure did miss the availablity of coffee at VIR.....that would be a pretty simple perk....if you will forgive a play on words.....a local group should set up a concession stand, early.
Yeah, yeah, I use a motor home, so it is NOT that important....but it is nice.

Great feedback, group. Mental note for Polish Mountain event team: Set up early AM Simoniz/Folgers booth.

Kidding aside, hospitality is one of the top priorities for our group and our Saturday autocross picnics are the stuff of legend. The Flintstone Volunteer Fire Company is going to be a co-sponsor and beneficiary of the hillclimb. They have brand new fire hall a mile from the hill complete commercial grade pit barbeque...you can guess what we plan to do with that unit. Here bossy, bossy. Here chicky, chicky.

Here are some links to previous party evidence from our autocrosses and shows :)

Flintstone Hill Climb Poll

Post by Ray Colbert »

All,

John Felten called me today and wants to have a meeting to finalize this in 2 weeks.

I am starting to arrange it now to be held in either Bedford or Sommerset PA.

Speak or forever hold your peace of mind.

This hill is a not as long as Snowshoe but will be fun. I want to see both run in 2007.
