The supps say that camping is permitted Fri and Sat night -- does anyone know about Sunday night (and is that $35 / night correct?) ? We are planning on driving back Monday.

Tom,
The Southeast region only has Vintage Open Wheel and Vintage Fendered, and so you will have a class. I've suggested that the PHA classes of Historic and Vintage be adapted but there are so few entries down here in the vintage classes, I don't expect it will happen.
I so wish I could be involved with this event, as it is only 2.5 hours from me, but unless I get fired or quit my job, I'll never get to run it. I did run 3 vintage race events there in 2000 and 2001 on the full track, but I hate to be missing this every year. I do know the track and area pretty well, so if you have any questions, that the VIR website does not answer, just ask. I'm really glad to see so much interest from our friends up north. I'm sure you will not regret making the effort to come down. If you have never been to VIR, you will be amazed at what they have there.

Hi Kurt,

I have been working on him for months. I went as far as having him tell his boss that he had to go out of town to consult with a specialist.

Never mind what kind of specialist.

George and I are planning on being there.

I still trying to convince Stan.

You will have a great time. Be sure to get your gearing right.

You will see some serious speed down the front straight coming out of Oak Tree and the cross over at Bitch Turn at the end of the straight is 180 degrees and then begins a "downhill esses hillclimb".

Is Ken and/or Joe planning to come south?

Looks like I will be skipping this event. I just got my rookie club racing license this week and plan on doing my first race that same weekend out in Mid-Ohio.

As far as camping Sunday night. I'd go on the VIR website and use one of the contact numbers to ask. There are camp sites available in the area, I understand.

Hey Paul, if you find anything out about camping at VIR sun night, please post it here. I wasn't able to get any more info, although I didn't call the track, so we're assuming the answer is no. I figured we'd ask when we get down there, and if we can't stay, we'll drive part way back and get a hotel.

I know that in the past at least they did not allow you to stay there Sunday nite. Also in the past three years they waived the camping fee for us. We usually left there Sunday around 5:00 pm and with the clocks being turned back an hour it was a little bit more daylite. We would stop for fast food along the way and usually make it back to Reading no later than 1:00 am. The biggest killer of the whole trip is paying through the nose for gas. We would always go down 81. It is a long haul but worth the trip. The coarse is FAST. I was deep into 5th gear on the strait. If your car uses up brakes take extras. At the end of the strait is a 180 degree right hand turn. You guys will have a blast!! Be safe and kick some southern butt!!

HI all,

On the main track I know they have water/electric hookup for $15. I believe. The guy at the gate for the south course was trying to collect $10. per camper looking vehicle. That was stopped but a couple weren't reimburst. There is no water/electric hookups on the south course. 2 years ago (last run event) we ran electric out windows and at the soda machine. If need electric for any reason I would say work together like in the past and pit near the building. Remember! You'll need to take extension cords and splitters!!

Have fun all, I would be able to make it this year. I allways go down there ever year they have it but it's not in the cards this year.

I heard from Ginny Condrey, and she said that we won't be able to camp there Sunday night. The track is rented out to another group Monday, and they have been told they can have it after we are done.

I though we were meeting at the Mt Carmel exit 27 park-n-ride? There is a Exxon at this exit also.
Parkton is further north for me - wrong direction to get to VIR.

Brian -- Keith & I (and possibly Sinbad) are going to be somewhere south of DC on Thursday night; as far as we can get I guess. Since I don't have any idea where we'll end up, we'll just see you down there.
