Penske heads south

Post by svann »

I read that Penske is moving all his racing operations to Morrisville, NC. This would indicate that he is closing down his Reading HQ. It took me a few years to finally find his Reading location and they seemed very uninterested in having fans stop by. He'll have to get use to it in NASCAR land.

Has anyone ever made a visit to the Reading Penske race shop? Also I've heard that he has a great collection of his famous cars. Where are they displayed?

Penske Shop

Post by 340lola »

Stan,

One of our local clubs managed to arrange a tour through Penske a few years ago. Only one car on display. four or five cars in progress well covered and concealed. The tour also included the shock shop, dyno area and body and paint shop. All in all very impressive as you would expect.

Penske

Post by dspgti »

Don't forget we have a friend on the inside. Former avid Hillclimber and still current BMR member, Aaron Yeager is an engineer for Team Penske's IRL team. Much to my dismay he will be moving to NC after next years racing season. Before they move perhaps we should consider organizing a tour for the PHA. Anybody interested?

PENSKE TOUR

Post by dspgti »

I'm afraid I spoke too soon about setting up a tour of the Penske shop. My son says they are being very particular about who they let in right now. They are doing the change over to the Honda engines and they are real secretive about having the cars exposed. It is interesting to see what they go through to keep secrets from other teams. It's like National Security.

Dave,

Thanks for the try.
With this weather I may just head south with Penske.
