Above is link to article on fatality at Lime Rock of an Allentown, PA driver this past Saturday. I don't know how EMRA organizes their time trials, but I'm guessing there will be some changes.

further review - EMRA event

Post by jgrausa »

After reviewing EMRAs schedule information, their time trail this weekend was scheduled for Friday the 23rd. This fatalilty occured on Satuday afternoon when they were to have a 1 hour enduro. If EMRA was on schedule, the accident did not occur in a time trial, but in a wheel to wheel race.

I wonder what the cars were? It's a shame for everyone involved. Dealing with a fatality at any event isn't easy especially when you know the fellow driver. EMRA has had many issues over the years safety wise, hope none were responsible here.

From reports I have geard the incident occured near the end of the 1 hour enduro. The cars were a DSR and a full bodied car. I'm not the first person to question the idea of putting full size cars out on track with sports racers. But more importantly my thoughts go out to the driver's friends and famil and to the other drivers and workers affected.

That's how Dr. Patty was almost killed running an EMRA event years ago. She was in her spec racer & got runover by a full bodied car. It was a Smt. Pt. on the front straight after the flag stand.

... anyone catch the quote at the end that there are more variables on the track than the street?!

Am I missing something in that quote.
I would say there are a million more variables on the street.
