Roll Bar for a 71 Vette
We're trying to get my brother's 71 Vette ready for Jefferson and all we have left to do is the roll bar. However, we're not sure how we can mount it to the frame without removing the whole damn body. So I was just curious if there is anyone out there that has a 71 with a roll bar or cage in it and how they mounted it in the car. (welded it in, bolted it in, etc) Just looking for ideas to ponder before we make a decision.

Joe Cyburt runs a C3 Corvette from Weatherly, PA but, I doubt he could tell you much about putting in a rollbar/cage since he is the 2nd owner of the car.
Phoenix Performance Group in Palm, PA(Rt. 29 just south of Rt. 100)has done a ton of Touring 1 cages for C-5 and C-6 Corvettes. I know Kurt could help you out a lot.

We ran an old 65 vette for years, but, it was a full GT1 car. Already had the cage in it (fully welded).
My podna down here in NC (has several racing vettes) does this stuff on the side. Too far for you to bring your car, but, he will gladly talk you thru it. Heck of a nice guy. He is a fellow hillclimber as well. Call or email him.
His name is Dave Greer (Greer Competition Corvette).

Telll him you spoke to Mash.
Also, the Morecks in Larksville PA install rollbars/fabrication. They are the best. Performance Fabrication. Speak to Ronnie at 570-283-1170.
I`m looking forward to seeing some pics of your 71. I`m considering putting an old vette together for the street, and maybe some hillclimbs.

I had my roll bar done at JT Machine in Sinking Spring.
Although I do not have a Vette, I do have a rather tight 2-seater.
I have been dealing with Jim at JT and I highly recommend them (him).

VETTE ROLL BAR
Just cut a 12" or so square hole out over the frame, at the point you want the bar to go. After you finish welding. glass the square back in. Simple eh?
Better to be a has been, than a never was.
