Merry Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas
and out in the shop
slept a cherished race car
thick dust on it's top

The motor was out
the transmission in pieces
the work had been stopped
to see nephews and nieces

The racer was sitting,
eggnog in his hand.
He watched the kids playing,
and thought, "ain't this life grand."

When out on the drive
there arose such a clatter
he had to get up
to see what was the matter.

Out on the lawn
a driver stepped down
from a big boxy truck
painted horse apple brown.

Who sent this gift?
his shock made him stutter
a fine new tig welder
and new plasma cutter

"Just read the label,
that's how I'd know.
Now sign for the package,
I gotta go."

The driver exclaimed,
as he drove out of sight,
"Merry Christmas to all,
I'm gonna call it a night."
