Alternate to Rose Valley? OR: Hey, Larry!

Post by Mel Horn »

Unless I miss my guess, Rose Valley seems to be a dead issue. Not that I or anybody would wish it so, but...

Would the possibility exist that we might want to look at something in the general area, on PA Rt 554 Sulphur Springs Rd south of South Williamsport. It would start in the vicinity of Hawbaker (Hornbaker? Whatever?) Construction and continue south. Seems to be turnaround area and little or no habitation. (Haven't been that way in awhile)...

Might someone want to put another set of eyes on this site and see if it's feasable to move forward?

For that matter, how about the old Ravine site, off exit 104 of I-81 (north of Pine Grove)? There have been vast improvements since it was last run, especially to the upper end.

Just throwing this out there, as I've not been active here like I'd like to be but...

How about Northern NJ? There's some really nice hills up that way...

Is there a stretch of road that can be shut down and has safe runoff area, etc.?

Does NJ allow roads to be shut down for reasons such as a speed event?

IIRC NJ has any motorsports activity run by the State Police.

As I recall NJ has a law that will not allow the speed limit to be broken even if the road is dedicated to an event, the State Poilce will run radar during the event aand ticket each violation.

Being an ex-Jersey girl. God bless the Jersey State Police. In this day and age of terrorism and other homegrown and international crap, it is far more important for police to spend more time getting the "bad guys" with WMD's than speeders and such. Let us racers play, we are not the threat. Oh Lord, girls just want to have fun.....in a fast car....driving the fast car.....during an "sanctioned" event....and yes, after the sanctioned event! Yee-haw!

Rules, rules, rules.....they need to be updated to reflect the current era we all are living in. A new hillclimb will not promote, nor expand upon the current state of international affairs in this nation today. Reality check needed here. Argh!

Maybe we can focus on an area where we CAN run an event?
