Lloyd & Bert Geib

Post by sgmotorsports »

Dear PHA Family,

For 45 years, our friends Lloyd and Bert Geib have been active members of the Hillclimb family. They are having much difficulty coping with the issues of Lloyd's illness. So, let's get together and send cards to them for the holidays, and, if you can, mark your calendars to send out a monthly greeting as well. It would do much to lift their spirits, especially during this time of year.

Cards can be addressed to them at 504 Hemlock Lane, Lebanon, PA 17042.

In addition, we are asking PHA to retire Lloyd's racing number #111. Can we have a consensus on this?

Carol and Norma you have my vote. I can't imagine anyone in our organization that would not go along with this idea. Maybe Tom can have it brought up at the next meeting and it can be voted upon. Great Idea!

I'm with Tim, I thought we did that a couple few years ago.

Tom Knorr and Gordon Wise don't remember us doing it, but Gordon is going to look through the minutes from past meetings and see what he can find.

The number was retired in late 2008. It has been shown on the Permanent # list as retired last year and this year.

The minutes from the November 2008 meeting tell us that Bob Oswald Sr. made a motion that PHA retire Lloyd's number 111 and that the vote in favor was unanimous.

Speaking of retired numbers... There is documentation in the records that state #333 shall be retired by the PHA in the name of Sam Osborn, the driver that was killed at Duryea. I can present the document if need be...perhaps some of our senior members recall this.

Matt,

I've looked at the list and realized that only Lloyd's says "Perm". Perhaps it should say "Retired". I was unaware until last week that it shouldn't be used. I'm sure the other registrars were unaware as well. Should we also add #3 Mike Sarzynski and #333 Osborn as "Retired" too? Do we know of any others? Please let me know as I will remove them from my number sheets for the events.

Thanks...Carol Lipperini

My understanding of the vote was that we would no longer allow anyone to reserve the number "111" but that it would be available for use at an event, just as any other reserved number that isn't being used that weekend. It appears we may need to clarify the intention at the next PHA meeting.

Also, 111 is the only number I am aware of as being restricted. I believe any additions would have to be voted on as well although I believe we should carefully consider what policy we put in place. As much as we may wish to honor and remember drivers the list of free numbers each year is pretty short. We do have the PHA Hall of Fame to provide that history and honor already.
