HD Video Duryea Run 2

Post by SteveTC »

Here is a video from youtube of my second run on Saturday around 132.00 seconds.
Filmed this in HD60 and it came out decent except for the bumps at the finish.
I have to get a movie editor program to clip out some of the unwanted stuff.

I'm interested in doing hill climbs and this is a great video to give some a first-person perspective. The only thing that scares me is not going off the side but scraping the car on those rock walls. How many people end up scraping those rocks during their climbs? Is it rare or never happens?

George,

I had just mounted a Kodak HD60 Easy Share Zi6 camera to my cage for a couple of events. not a race friendly camera by any means.

Barbara,

The stone walls are not usually in places where there are a lot of off course excursions.
This year there was one incident that ended up destroying a cobra right near the finish line.
This cobra had an advertised 650 HP and was driven by a Duryea novice whom managed to get the car light near the finish line.
He hit the wall and spun close to the finish line, I don't believe he went over the finish.
It is always up to the competitor how hard they drive, some of us are much more driven and willing to push the limits and flirt with destroying our cars to win!
There are many other obstacles that I would rather not hit, the walls are typically glancing blows, trees and guard rails not always the case!
I don't think any of us want to damage our cars, but this is racing and mechanical issues, driver error, road surfaces and weather conditions are a few of the things we must endure during our season. It is very difficult to really drive hard and not have one of the gremlins bite you.
I hope to see you on the hills very soon.
If there is anything we can do to assist you, let us know, the hillclimb family really does look out and help each other.
If you have any questions, just post them on the forum and someone will chime in with some help.
