Re: Duryea Stuff
Thanks for the picture link to leisterimages.com. Bob D'Amore's car is still the most impressive looking car(and sounding) on the hill. It was the 1st one I saw. Nothing against anyone else's car, but that huge wing and the horizontal headers and that chest pounding sound is unmatched in my opinion.
Congrats to Jeremy for the FTD in a street car. Unreal!!!!

Great coverage by the Reading Eagle.....it was very "EVIL"! lol!
I must add that BMR put on a great event! The event was well organized and has grown significantly in several different areas. Additionally, the Saturday night part was wonderful! Great food, location, and decorations! Kudos to BMR!

Sue!!! Look at this picture of your car. If that isn't absolutely beautiful coming thru 2, I don't know what is.

Haha! And I just noticed you have the side windows open. That's awesome.

Re: Duryea Stuff
I seriously need to thank all the workers that stood out there in the rain ALL day on Sunday. Holy $%^&! You guys could have bagged it and neither Nancy or myself would have been complained. That rain was just ridiculous and I huge applause needs to go out to all of them. Thank you so much for enduring.
Also, thanks for the entertainment. I loved the sign at turn 8. And MaryAnne, uh, LOL, I can't even comment without being obscene so.....hahahaha! Very funny!

Re: Duryea Stuff
Corner #4 won the contest. Let's just say, Lora and I were on Target! So who won the corner worker contest? Sue
Thank you to CJ's for the prize of four $25 gift certificates, which Lora and I will share.
Well, we did keep within the rules of the contest, no nudity. Then again, that would be a little scary and might have resulted in some "incidents" coming down the hill! lol! Although, we were told by a few drivers on Saturday, "No skin, no win"!And MaryAnne, uh, LOL, I can't even comment without being obscene so.....hahahaha! Very funny!

The good side of the rain on Sunday: We now know that the wireless timing system works in the rain!!!

Assuming I can remember to tighten the antenna pole mount straps down properly so the wind doesn't spin it
Right :
Wrong (and what I went up to fix lunch time Sunday):
It was only off by about 90 degrees... It actually was still working when it was only off by 45 surprisingly enough, which I noticed on one of my returns down the hill, but it kept shifting, and we eventually lost the signal.
At least it was a quick fix -- I went up with the lunch truck, and they dropped me off. I spun it back to the right alignment and tightened the straps, and the lunch truck picked me up on their way back down. We were good to go for the rest of the day.

Re: Duryea Stuff
Grace, you did an awesome job with that wireless system. But I think you should have the system work on 900mhz, 2.4Ghz, shortwave, laser, IR and cans/ropes. If you STILL need advice, I am sure we can find a multitude of people to have some mooooooooooore input.
Keep up the good work. It really was appreciated.
For those that have NO clue what I am talking about, don't worry, I'm just being a smart a$$ and she understands.

Re: Duryea Stuff
I forgot about that guy, thanks again for the rescue!
You do bring up a good point -- I never thought of cans and ropes but that is a very low cost solution. The only downside is that you would have to run a rope all the way down the hill, which sort of defeats the purpose.
The other thing we could try is a human chain, and then do a whisper down the lane sort of thing.

Re: Duryea Stuff
For those people who were not at the awards presentation Sunday afternoon...
When Charles Duryea was building his cars in Reading, it was his daughter, Rhea, who would often test the cars on what we now call Duryea Drive. So, we created the Rhea Duryea Award. This annual award goes to the female driver who comes closest (or beats by the greatest margin) whatever is the record in her class.
Congratulations to the 2010 winner, Adrienne Vrabel.
