Since: A. I ran in TI, and 2.a results sheet was not sent if an entry was not paid, and III. My TI career did not start until 1968, my results are skewed somewhat in my favor. However, my results sheets have it like this in ascending order: Norma Oswald, Bill Hagerty, Robert Oswald, Donald Overly, Willi Ascher, Jack Lorah, Dave Spiegel, and Donald McLaughlin.

Jack and Willi ran for a number of seasons before I showed up and may have exceeded my total of first places and almost certainly had more than Dave Spiegel.

Wasn't he T1 champion in '68? Jan Remick ran his car too.

I actually have another name as T1 champ for 68. Do you have a year end result stating Ascher was? He won at least 5 events, I see...but I've seen year end champs take the honor with no class wins.....

I have a page headed "Final Points Standings (Best 6 hills - two hills eliminated)"
Touring I
Willi Ascher 59
Jack Lorah 56
David Boone 47
Jeanette Remick 44
Bob Wentzel 38
Ronald Bowers 27
Fred Vetterlien 25
Bob Peters 21
John Jennings 14
Jay Schneider 10
Don Overly 7
Carol Krause 4
It is on that beige soft paper that I think came out of Zerox as one of the Appalachian members worked there. It was the same color as the results for fall Hershey that year. The '69 Hershey results were on the same kind of paper but green. The '69 year end was on normal white paper. The page does not say '68. In subsequent years I labeled them. I suppose it is possible that is the '67 year end. I could only find two results sheets on which Willi won the class for the year but I don't have a complete set.

We have to get together and compare notes!! I certainly would buy that he was 68 champ by looking at the class wins...for I have someone else in 67!!

anyway....let's see if I can post the next pix....nope :(

Touring 1 SAABs ran the three speed box by rule. The 2nd - 3rd gap was quite large so if you went to 3rd going uphill you were dead meat. Jack had a pair of 135X15 Michelin Xs mounted and a pair of 155X15. They would be swapped front to rear to get the best ratio. He had a reputation for turning the SAAB 3 cylinders to some awful revolutions but I don't know exactly how high that might have been.
