Hi Folks-

I just purchased car #32 (earlier #117), a tartan red car with a mid 13,000 production number. This car was campaigned extensively in the 70's by a fellow named Ron Augustine. I have been told that Ron did some hillclimbing in the late 60's and 70's. I was wondering if any of you might remember Ron or this car.Any history or info would be greatly appreciated.

I will be restoring it to nrace it in its' early 70's form and livery.

Regards, Tom

Hi Tom,

I don't have any record of a Ron Augustine in my database of PA Hill Climbers. Do you know where he was from?

Hi Ron-

Mr. Augustine was from Bergen, NJ. He was both an EMRA and Scuderia X member. I know that he autocrossed and hillclimbed in the early 70's, and did some SCCA events thru '77, when he died suddenly (non-auto related). The car has changed hands several times since '77, but has not been campaigned since the Vanderbilt Cup race at Bridgehampton '77 (I think).

Regards, Tom

Sorry, I can't provide anything on him...he's not on my radar. Do you know if the roll bar in the car is original? If so, look for a PHA stamping near inspection hole.

You might want to look at the New England Council of Sports Car Clubs. They have run a HC series for many years. Sue
