rare Saturday FTD'er...John Flannery

FTD stands for fastest time of day, not fastest time of week end. There must be more than twenty years worth of Saturday FTDs. The Saturday results sheets always listed FTD for Saturday. I think I recall the occasion John got FTD for the event. We got good weather Saturday and rain all day Sunday.

I understand FTD...but you'll be hard pressed to see the term FTW anywhere in the records. In two instances, John ,was FTW if you will.

Some hills rewarded Saturday "FTD" winners....I'm pretty certain that it never counted for year end "FTD" awards. Correct me if I'm wrong.
For those that may not understand Saturday vs Sunday drivers. Since there were so many entrants at the hills back in the day. Small bore production and touring classes were typically run on Saturday. Sunday was left for big bore production, modifieds and formula cars...let it be known...when speaking of FTD...I'm talking fastest for the weekend or FTW...

going pre PHA...Giant's Despair....Del Lee in his Allard snagged two

A gentleman named Tiny Gould (SP?), from the Wilkes-Barre area I believe, also campaigned an Allard in that era. I remember a couple of incidents with the car, a snapped drive shaft at Pocono and an off into the "wall" at the outside of the last hard left turn at Giant's Despair. He drove it hard!
