Hey, I'm not all that old. Yeah, I have reached geezerhood, but codger is still well ahead of me!! For the record, I did minor damage to my Speedster at Hyner View (not Weatherly) way back in'63 or '64.. Minor damage means I was able to pull the fenders off the tires and drive it home, gently.

My Dad rolled my brother's Speedster in Turn 1 at Weatherly in 67 in Saturday practice, trying to go flat out in 4th gear. The ambulance took him to 4 hospitals before they could stop because the ambulance had NO BRAKES. My Dad came back the next day and finished 4th in EP Porsche. The body was stripped off of the chassis and was hanging from the rafters at Kressgee's shop in Bethlehem, PA. It was news worthy enough to make it into that weeks, Autoweek.

Fred Remick rolled Willi Ascher's VW, actually. Willi had entered, but something prevented him from attending the event and Fred drove the entry without Willi's foreknowledge. I thought Fred looks particularly unhappy in the picture:(

Yea...the stone wall is a tip, but I can't place the location, you think Duryea? At this point in PHA history, the car SHOULD have at least a roll bar...but in talking with some PHA veterans, some guys really worked hard to pass off proper ones. I was told of a story of one car's roll bar made with conduit and yet another that had painted card board rolls!!

Ron,

Is that the same Al Knepper from Weatherly, PA that drove Corvair Specials?

Ron,

Thanks, we used to park the motorhome behind Al's house, when we went to Weatherly. I am almost 100% sure that the Vette is in the fire tower lot. I do not recall any hill other than Reading that has those type of walls.

It looks like the fire tower parking lot. I agree with Rich on that. The White Volvo in the background looks like the one Mom and Dad had years ago. I was in my teens when we had that one.
