Porsches

I have decided that we should leave the ladies alone as me and Tom talk about hillclimbing Porsches.

I believe that Sandy found the Formula 2 car in a field near York, PA. Derecola's car was an Elva.
Yes, Mod 2 had a lot of Porsche stuff and Corvair stuff. Tom Beil still has the ex- Rodriguez RSK that he paid $6000 for in 68. Last, I saw the DeBaugh, it was for sale and the Firand was for sale earlier this year as a Brabham formula car. I asked the Firand seller about what all happened the car, he told me that he only wanted the Brabham stuff and junked the rest. Sabol was for sale last year in Colorado with a 911 engine. Frick's Porsche Royale has been thru a few owners in the vintage crowd. Haas sold his Spyder for couple hundred thou, only to hear a few weeks after he sold it, that it was resold for twice the money that he sold it.

C' mon, Ron. We have plenty of topics, like PHA Touring classes, Porsches, Formula 1 and 2 classes, Past PHA officers, formula vees, etc.

Good stuff! My Dad took me for a ride in Haas's Spyder. Poor JIm' s mouth dropped open when my Dad screamed past him at 100 mph in front of Lodge headquarters for the 74 Porsche Parade. I also got a ride in Beil's Spyder on the back way from the Duryea fire tower.

ps My Mom got to drive a 911 for the first time at the 74 Parade, she was screaming around Pocono in this 911, when the novice she was teaching turned to her and asked her if, she knew that the car was a 5 speed. Here she was driving around in 4th gear because she didn't know that a 911 had 5 gears. Opps. LOL!

C'mon, Ron. It has been quiet lately. You can post those Speedster shots that I sent you. How about a VW thread?
I may bust on Ron's chops from time to time, but he is doing a hell of a good job collecting and preserving our group's past before it is all gone with the people that were around during PHA's heyday years of the 60's and 70's. For me this is a trip down, memory lane from my childhood growing up around hillclimbing. Plus, I need something to keep me off the streets of Perkasie and Q-town, late at nite.

Sorry to all...I've been a bit off my game here lately. Just a few things going on in my mind. I promise to get back on track soon! Although, my next post...is not the kind I like to make.

Sorry I missed you all at the banquet...
