Judy James won C Sedan in her mini at the 1974 Giant's Despair event...No pixs of the mini...but have a shot of the 1973 TVR ride at Camp Shand. This TVR has resurfaced and I help provide info to link the new owner with Judy and Bill.

Ron - the old photos are great! Here's another lead - you need to track down Doug Gutekunst. He has a great old movie clip of his wife Phyllis racing HER TD in a skirt & a babushka. Told us that's how they met & he was instantly in love - a pretty girl with a TD, his dream come true. Sue

I'll have to see if Doug was on the mailing list I had found...otherwise may need some help. I have a file on him...but not his wife. Good story Sue!! :D

Wow, this brings back memories.

BTW, Judy James later ran Regionals in a Honda Civic. Didn't know she ran hills.

I didn't see mentioned:

Janet Guthrie who allegedly ran at least one Hershey Hillclimb.

and one Maureen Fahey who back in 1977 drove (as far as I can tell) ONE hillclimb; Rose Valley, since she was the only competitor in Touring I all year she won the class championship. The Wayback Machine is stalling...was that Don McLaughlin's car?

This is especially significant since she subsequently married Tony Griffin, hisself a Porsche 914 SSSC Regional/National driver. I personally take the credit (or blame) for introducing them. They are the proud parents of recent competitor Ryan Griffin!

I have record of Janet Guthrie on PA hills once...1966 Fall Hershey Hill Climb. She placed 2nd behind Judy Beattie in the Ladie's class.

Judy was running the Lotus S-7 with a time of 56.321 and would have placed 3rd in CP with the men (out of 6 cars).

Janet was running her Jaguar XK 140 with a best time of 58.338 and would have placed 4th out of 12 cars in DP.
