This is a Cisitalia Nuvolari Spyder driven and owned by Oscar Koveleski!! Once I established this ID, Oscar commented on the photo:
"I bought this Cisitalia Nuvolari Spyder from Jim Pauley in the mid 50's less gearbox and engine..for $750 and made a 'hot rod' out of it....put a special MG engine in it, Weber carbs, Bendix aircraft fuel pump, welded the read end gears together (locked) ran some hillclimbs, races (including Marlboro) ?and sold it to Jim Forno (Vestal NY) for $1800. It was restored by my former mechanic Jack Deren Carbondale Pa, for a wealthy collector who runs it in the vintage races in Italy....value today about $350,000."

Wish I could remember all the funny jokes about NSUs. Did it stand for None So Ugly? There were at least 3 more versions of what the initials stood for but I'm drawing a blank. Help me Mel!

Sorry, I was off to work because I owe, I owe on an enclosed trailer; but it is a NSU Prinz. NSU was the first company to develop the Rotary Wankel and the melodious sound that Dave loves to hate. Today, NSU is a part of Audi or 1 of the four rings. What was the other 3 companies that made up Auto Union?
Ron should know the answer and we might have had one these cars run a hillclimb.

This particular NSU Prinz 1000 was driven by Gary Rightmire...it was co driven by Chuck Marsh. Gary was D Sedan Champ in 1977.

Audi, Horch, Wanderer & DKW (the four rings) made up Auto Union....they merged with NSU sometime in the mid-late 60s....later to be just called Audi, keeping the 4 rings logo.

Very good Ron but, I am surprised that you do not have a picture of a DKW running the hills! NSU, I believe also made motorcycles.
What is next on our rare birds; a Yugo, MG 1100, AC Bristol, DB Panhard, Lister, Talbot, BMW 507.
During the holidays, I had a real treat of going to the Simeone Museum in Philly and seeing some very rare racing cars from the before World War 1 to the early 70's. www.simeonemuseum.org I enjoyed myself so, much I would like to go again.

Rich, does the enclosed trailer mean you will be back on the hills?

I have record of 3 DKW vehicles running our hills. Two were sedans and one was a DKW powered formula Jr. They all ran between 1961 - 1963. Frank Weder of Lebanon & Ray Ott ran in Touring 1. Sam Simonton ran the Formula Jr. No photos of the cars...but do have photos of Frand & Sam.
