You also asked "where", and I think it's entering Turn Five* (Hairpin) at Rose Valley.

* Which somehow became "Six" this year...

I can't give you a driver but I think I can give you a year...should be 1999 and if I'm correct this car ( at least it was one similar) oiled the course from between Dickerson and the Elbow before stopping.

I was one of the drivers in line dragooned into sweeping in broiling heat(in Nomex) but ran out of time so we didn't get to run anyway...

That's easy, it's Nascar legend Ernie Irvin.......nicknamed Swervin' Irvin.

OMG! I used to follow Ernie in all the races. Terrible tradgedy that wreck. Now I am completely honored to be on the hill!!! And it just adds more thrill to being there. My son still has the 18scale model of the car.

Now, if Mark Au.....no, wrong guy, Mark Martin would only come and run once........

Steve, I was kidding about Ernie Irvan running at Giants, considering the whole Nascar season runs from Feb to November, and if it was 1999, then Irvan was running the #36 M&Ms Pontiac, not the Kodak #4. I'm guessing someone bought one of his old cars, or more likely made a replica up.
That would be great though.

first one...appears to be a Solo Vee??
Scanning takes too much time and you can usually only get about 300-600dpi. Instead you could set up a tripod with controlled lighting ie a box or closed room. Set up the digital camara and take the pics again then up load to computer. much better and faster just takes some time to prep. But the quality is through the roof.

My real question is I am looking for some information on an old mg sprite think it is a 67 it is white and had a black number on it can't rember the number though. It was used in some hill climbs possibly in the mid-late 70's early 80's. I don't know I wasn't born then. The roll bar was origional and it has the drill hole through it which I am told means that it passed inspection to hill climb. Also any infromation/pictures on John Mitchell would be great.

Thanks Ian

Thank you! I knew that Vette looked familiar and couldn't remember the drivers name to save my life. He has to many toys to play with.

He had a true 89 corvette challenge car that he sold.
And this car #8 Sprit Of Jacksonville World Challenge He has for sale with huge amount of spares $25,000 Neg I think.
Cobra is long gone sold to buy house and build garage. (nice house).
Formula thing was on older super vee.
