CARB size? category rule questions

Post by AStaidle »

for ITA, it states under 9.1.3.D.5

"All single carbureted cars may fit and approved optional carburetor. Approved carburetors are:
1 Weber 32 DGV/DGAV/DGEV
1 Weber 32 / 36 DGV/DGAV/DGEV
1 Weber 32 /36 DFV/DFAV/DFEV
1Weber 34 DAT/DATR/DATRA/DMTR
1 Holley - Weber 5200"

The thing is all of those options are far too small. So is it basically telling me im stuck with the Nikki carb? I already would have to use the stock intake manifold for the carb, that basically rules out alot of options.

If i have to run a nikki at least it seems it says i can "tinker" with the jetting, etc.

I've also seen in the GCR stated "where Weber type carbs are specified, Weber type carburetors can be substituted". But that still means i cant use alternative manifolds, and the listed sizes for the Webers are still far too small.

But if for the Level 1 Production, i could run basically any manifold (it seems) but im still stuck with undersized carbs...

I still can't find "CSP" in the GCR though.

I have seen the Weber 32/36 work pretty well on a 150HP VW motor. Adapters are allowed to install the Webers listed.

Lots of room in Production for cahnges and upgrades.

CSP is SOLO II class. You will find the regs in the SOLO rule book.

The carbs specified are the only optional carbs allowed...as Dave said, go to the SOLO Rules for car class and prep and the TTR for safety requirements.

so i think i may have final figured out some of the rules on classes.

I think i want to go with the C Street Prepared class for the 1982 GS. I can use the 12a engine without porting modifications, but use an header and from what i can tell an different carburator setup.
