Roll Bar for Showroom stock competition

I know that in the past, some showroom stock drivers have been allowed to compete in Time Trials, including hillclimbs, with only an SCCA legal roll bar instead of a roll cage. Someone asked me that question for Polish Mountain - they have a stock Neon. Thanks, Mike

Mike - I only have a bar in my Mini & "The Car Ho" Matt seemed OK with it. Is the rest of your friend's car legal? Belts, extinguisher, arm restraints?

Showroom Stock does not require a cage at this time, a Roll Bar is sufficient. As Sue said, Fire extinquisher-with a METAL mounting bracket, minimum of 5 point harness, window net or arm restraints. No Kill switch for Showroom Stock or Touring (Improved Touring needs a switch). Driver needs a SA2000 or newer helmet, Nomex suit either w/ or w/o Nomex underware-depending on the suits' rating. He has everything else ready. I also noticed that for hillclimbing, there are several cars that still have their air bags. I know that for road racing, the air bags have to be removed. I assume that he can keep his air bags instead of having to remove them, since that would mean he wouldn't be able to pass inspection?

you should try to pull the fuse for the air bags

Air bags don't hurt you w/ a helmut on... (speaking from experience)

The TTR "recommends" that you disable the bags but does not require it.
