Matt Green will probably be doing the novice orientation, but I can probably answer your question.

Short answer, No.I was wandering if I had to register as a novice for Duryea and attend the novice meeting.
There are actually two different type of novices. The SCCA Novice License and a novice at a hill. You can get your regular license after three (I think) successful events and the being signed off by the Divisional Steward.
A novice on any hill is anyone who has never run that particular hill before (or in the last 5 years) regardless of the license that they have. You can be running the series for years and still be a novice at an event if you have never run that event before.

Matt Rowe signed off for my license.
This is my 3rd year hillclimbing and I was a "novice" at Rose Valley last weekend since I had never seen that hill before.

Thanks!
And one other quick question.........According to the SCCA site, my Novice TT Dr(?) expires on 8/31/06, as does my membership. So it is my understanding that I can run Duryea even if I don't get all my License paperwork approved by then. Does this sound correct? Because every year it seems like when I get to the table Friday night before Duryea, I'm writing out checks for licensing and membership. I'm just trying to make it smoother this year.

Matt-
As Nelson said, you do not need to carry Novice status for Duryea. In fact, I'm trying to keep the Novice groups as small as possible since we always have quite a few of them.
Thanks for asking, rather than just assuming.
