Talk about anything in this section, just keep it clean. :-)

Lap time (solo?) competitions

Post by JekylandHyde »

Are there any groups, bodies, clubs that offer time trials racing on the regional tracks? tracks like ... Pocono, Summit Point, Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, etc ...

I realize that we have Summit Point on our schedule and I am hoping to get down there this year (since I recently had a chacne to check it out), but I was wondering if there are other racing opportunites on these tracks that do not involve wheel-to-wheel racing.

Links are greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

Time trials

Jeff,
EMRA runs some events at Pocono and the Glenn. Check their web site for details. I have been told they are a pretty good bunch to run with. I know the Dankos go up to both Pocono and the Glenn, and they have a ball. Tons of seat time.

Thanks ... last weekend I was checking out PDA as this seemed almost ideal (Except for the lack of lap timeS). I signed onto their mailing list and I guess they just announced that they are being taken over by NASA.

I'll check EMRA out. Thanks.

Yeah, I was going to mention that PDA and many others are meant for driver ed and improvement, and don't offer lap times. Also, you may want to go observe first, as some of what I have seen at other organizations' events kinda scares me...

Matt, would you mind giving me specifics?
You can PM me if you prefer ... I would genuinely like to know what
conerncs you.

I was at the SATT @ Summit Point 2 weekends ago and that seemed fine to me. Of course it was an instructor only day and there were no lap times.

I'm a big fan of EMRA events and I'm planning to run some NASA this year. I ran at VIR before its demise and would love to run the new version. NASA runs some HPDE events there.
