Duryea 2018

Post by Rich Rock »

We should have the entry form finalized today or tomorrow, and the plan is to publish it on Sunday July 29 and open online registration on Monday July 30.

BMR contracted a paving company to fix the dip in the right lane approaching Turn 6. The entire right lane, for a little more than 140 feet. That paving was completed yesterday and it looks pretty good.

The plan is to stop using tires as impact barriers in favor of something that works better and is easier to set up and remove. We've tested some high density foam blocks and it looks like they'll work, so we hope to be using them at Duryea.

That doesn't give mail-in entries the customary "head start". Do I have to stay up until midnight to register online? This is getting silly.

That big head start does not exist this year, that's true. This system should make things more even. Sue, do whatever you want, but I don't think it will sell out before Monday night.

So what time does online open? 12.01 am? I just want to be prepared, don't usually use myautoevents.

Nelson sets that up, I'm not sure what time it will be.

I was just thinking this hillclimb is one in which the competition begins the minute online registration opens, just to get entered. That's kind of kool.

Never thought about it that way Stan. You are right.....it does start at registration!
Personally I also like the fact that we get limited runs. I think it favors the veteran drivers. I always consider it my Superbowl. No time to screw around. You have to be good right out of the box!
