Shopping for an enclosed trailer

Post by Sue Salsburg »

David & I are starting the hunt for an enclosed trailer - got spoiled pitting with Chuck Christ. I'd welcome suggestions - E-Bay, local dealers? If the price is close, I'd rather throw the business to someone connected with PHA. Thanks, Sue

I bought my 16ft trailer last year from the Hitch Man in Taneytown, MD. He beat everyones price in a 100 mile radius that I could find. The trailer is made by Carry On Trailers. I liked it because it is extra tall, and since I'm 6'-3", I wanted something that I could stand in without hitting my head (very usefull when we "camp" in it). So far, it has be to Watkins Glen, IRP, Summit Point (several times), Cumberland and used a few times to haul junk to the dump - all with out any problems.

Addditions to the trailer - I painted the unfinished plywood interior walls, and used garage floor paint on the plywood floor. Mounted heavy duty tie downs to the metal frame of the trailer. Installed a wench and battery, tool box and fuel jug holder.

One thing I like about this trailer (besides the height) is that fact that I can buy spare parts at any Tractor Supply (TSC), and even at Lowes since they carry trailers made by Carry On and have spare parts in stock at most stores. So if a breakdown happens, I should be able to find the parts I need.

I just bought a 20' enclosed trailer and I had a heck of a time finding one.
I had an even worse time learning to trailer such a big box

Anyway, if you are considering used, you may have some luck on these sites (or at least find a lot of other cool stuff :D :
