New to Hill Climb Saying hello!

Post by kudotaku »

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Taku and I'll be coming from NJ to hopefully run some events this year.

I have an FMod (F500) autocross car that I hope to be at events with.

Welcome. Although this can all be done at registration, I recommend having your SCCA membership and a Time Trial Novice Permit in hand (easily gotten from the SCCA) when you arrive. Oh, you also need a valid state driver's license. If you have any questions, you can direct them to me at jjpfoto@earthlink.net . If I do not have the answer, I will help find it for you.

Welcome Taku. I would like to recommend that you get your car teched or at least looked at by someone knowledgeable. There is no Mod class in hillclimbs. It will have to meet current SCCA F500 specifications or run as Specials. Roll cage construction including height is critical as well as current belts (5 years or less).

There are several members in New Jersey that would be glad to help out.

Here's a picture of what Im driving
It's an older F500 car.

Im going through the GCR to see what issues I need to address to run.

I just changed out the harnesses since they were out of date, hopefully I wont have to do much else.

Thanks for all the offers for information!

Ive got the hand held bottle mounted in there. Im short (5ft7") I think I have more than 6 inches between my helmet and bar.

Definitely good on the equipment. I think my car is actually obsoleted under the F500 rules so I will probably have to run under specials.

Before you go out and buy a ton of safety gear, make sure that rollbars meet the GCR for diameter and thickness. Quite a few f500s were made solo only
cars when the scca required larger bars for all cars under
1000lbs

How old is the car? Older ones did not have suspension.
Be sure that it has working suspension front and back. From the picture it appears to have it on the front but the back is not able to br seen.
What area do you live in? It really pays to have a tech inspector look at it. Give an area and one of them can get together and look at it.
