Date??
I am going to be posting a dozen or more pictures Nancy received from a co-worker who lives down the hill from Duryea. It's WAY before our time so maybe some of you 'old timers' could figure these out.
RIP Joe, my friend.

Re: Date??
LAST SET OF 3 PHOTOS, CENTER ONE IS BOWLANDS CAR, MOST PHOTOS MID TO LATE 80S MAYBE EARLY 90S
Re: Date??
The first car is that of Tommy Van Scoy, who ran with us for a couple years. I show him running a March 81A Formula Atlantic in 1989 but the numbers don't match. Ah, there he is in 1988 when he finished second to Jerry Coffee with a 1:54.632. The yellow car is the Superoo now in Ron Mann's stable. It was driven by Horace R. Franco, Jr. The FV with the gold trim does not appear in any results sheet I have. Next we have a young looking Larry Bickel suiting up next to his "Flat Cat" Triumph GT6 in GT3. There is my Renault 8 after its best repaint. Still on stock wheels with unflared body work. The pit scene with the red car as the focal point I can't do a thing with. The red Corolla in the next frame is Alvey Ford's car wearing Wayne Ford's number. He was the faster of the two that year and won GT4. The sportsracer with no numbers showing is tough. For a wild guess would that be Patti Enzmans Spec Renault with her back to camera right background? She was there in '88. The red and white formula car is a complete stumper as there is no number showing. The green GT6 was driven by Donald C. Harding to second in GT3. So 1988 it is.

Special I
Re: Date??
The red and white formula car is mine, and the year is 1987. The special was built and driven my my son Todd and me and was powered by a 2.3 liter VW. The chassis was a legrand formula ford with suspension from a 1973 Tui Super Vee. Todd crashed into the one way sign at the right turn at the Pagoda and with the help of Jim Oswald, we repaired the car overnight. That sign is still hanging in my shop, compliments of Jim. Todd elected to run only one time Sunday, which made his mom very happy. I ran a 201.179 on my second run Sunday and put it on the trailer. It would be 21 years before I had another chance to run Duryea and with the fourth generation special, I was able to take almost 16 seconds off the 1987 time. Probably another 16 seconds will be taken off my record in 20 years. Thats racin........

Re: Date??
just saw these...thanks for posting!! Always good to see pixs of the Superoo from back in the day!!
How do we think on that Sports Racer....the Oswald Viper SR-1?? It had a white nose prior to paint.
I should be able to ID that vee...I'll have to look into it!

Re: Date??
Note that the Vee has novice stripes on it. That may help you narrow it down.Ron Mann wrote:I should be able to ID that vee...I'll have to look into it!

Re: Date??
Yes, that Tommy Van Scoy. He was quite friendly with all and sundry and told a good story as I recall. He only ran with us a couple years. I don't know if he went on in road racing or simply hung it up.

Re: Date??
The white nosed Sports Racer is indeed the Viper SR-1...Oswald car. "Humpty Dumpty was pushed" decal on nose
