Brakes

Post by mrevilracing »

I have to open this post by saying WOW!!! Now I'll get on with it:

I needed new brakes and put on some Hawk blues because the HPS pads just about didn't stop me at Jefferson. I was told there would be some rotor dust and maybe some sparks. Well.........

Just a follow-up.

I removed the Hawk blues and put on some HPS pads so I can drive the car on the street. The pads had eaten into the rotors a minimum of 1/8" on each side. But the only damage was the forward piston boot on the caliper was destroyed.
I replaced the rotor with the OEM one. I will say that I believe it was the material on the PowerSlot rotors that must have been softer than a standard rotor. Either way, no more PowerSlots with the Hawk Blues. Unless I want to give the crowd a show. The folks at turn 7 would get one HELL of a show after coming thru Oh S... and hammering the brakes. Nah, I'll pass.
