i am looking for some non-leather shoes and gloves that meet the safety requirements.
know of any?

Gloves must be leather or "accepted" fire resistant, no holes. Shoes are leather or "non flammable". Unless you get SFI or FIA rated stuff, you had better be prepared to show "Accepted" or "Non flammable" ratings to the inspectors.

You can get good deals all over the place, but GForce probably has the best pricing for race shoes. There are a few guys that still run the hills in original all leather wing tips if you want to do that? I guess running the Miata makes us competitors if you choose the CSP class which we run in with our RX7, look forward to meeting you and beating you up the hill!
