How to send information to the SCCA

Post by Matt Rowe »

Despite the often referred to misnomer of the Secret Car Club of America, sending your thoughts and ideas into the SCCA shouldn't be a secret. In fact the SCCA is always looking for input from members to know how we can better serve them. So please if you have any concerns, proposed rule changes, or suggestions on how the club can grow and better serve you here is your chance!

First some background so you know who makes the rules. The Time Trials Program, of which Hillclimbs are part of, is overseen by the Time Trials Administrative Council (TTAC) and the Time Trials Safety Committee (TTSC). The TTSC keeps on top of safety issues and makes safety proposals to the TTAC for consideration. The TTAC is in charge of guiding the Time Trials program and recommending rule changes to the Board of Directors (BOD) for approval. Now the Club Racing Board (CRB) and the Solo Board are two seperate groups within SCCA. Although we do use portions of their classes for our competitors the Time Trials Rulebook (TTR) is independant of them. Crystal clear right?

Okay, so if you have a question about the Time Trials Rules you'll want to contact the TTAC. There are actually a couple ways to do this. First, you can go to the SCCA website and under the member area you'll find a listing of Boards and Committees. You will need your member number to login though. This area will also show how to contact the BOD member for your area. Remember the BOD overseas all rule changes so if it's an truly important issue to you they are an important contact.

The other option is to send your input directly to the TTAC or TTSC. You can submit comments to timetrials@scca.com.

For questions related to the GCR class cars contact the Club Racing Board at crb@scca.com

For questions related to the Solo class cars contact the Solo Events Board at seb@scca.com

Fastrack is the official way that the SCCA communicates with it members. Published monthly the newsletter shows you reports from the BOD, CRB and Solo Board as well as the TTAC and TTSC. If you want to see what is going on in YOUR club take a look.

Finally, remember the SCCA relies on the quality of the feedback. Saying "this is good" or "don't do this" doesn't tell us as much as why you feel that way or what you would suggest we do differently. So, please let us know how we can serve you better!

Okay everyone! I have sent my comments to SCCA about the proposed roll cage rules. How about the rest of you? Don't sit back and expect everyone else to oppose or embrace the regs.

Matt, you said in your post that a direct link might be set up in the near future for sending comments to TTAC. Is that done?

Just a bump to let you know the email address to reach the Time Trials group has been activated. Any and all comments and questions can be sent to timetrials@scca.com.
