Unique Characteristics: 1965 coupe, originally Nassau Blue with standard black interior, no radio, 396 sidepipe car and factory knock off wheels. Car raced originally in blue, and later in orange. Now yellow and the roll bar has been removed. There are two dash plaques, 1972 North Eastern PA Region 25 SCCA Regional, and Subaru Nationals Pocono September 15-16, 1973. The car sold new from Jack Dankel Chevrolet of Allentown Pa. and had an extensive race history in the PHA, Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association. Also raced SCCA A/P under Sam Armstong ownership. I assume it ran at Mosport when it came to Ontario and possibly in Quebec. The Kingston Ontario owner was Dr. Carl Bartashunas. The car sat in a barn for 20 some years until 2011 when Dan Adie from Ontario, Canada found the car. The car has been was raced in Canada in the late 1970's and early 1980's HISTORY IS BEING RESEARCHED
Modifications: Bought new by Tom Morgan, who took it HILL CLIMB Racing in Pennsylvania. He immediately realized the car was too much, so he traded SAM ARMSTRONG straight across for his small block maroon 1965 coupe. The original owner Tom Morgan is now deceased. Appears the car has raced all its life. Tom ordered the car and took it hill climb racing but found the car was too much for him and traded it to the Armstrongs for their 65 small block. Armstrong raced it in 1964 at Reading, PA Hill climb and in Oct. 13, 1968 at Marlboro SCCA A/P he placed 1st. Car was mostly stock as per the rules. Sam painted the car orange in 1966 and his race number 51 appeared on the car in both blue and orange under his ownership. Sam sold the car in August 1969 to a Mike Oleyer who used it in SCCA Hillclimb , SCCA and SCCA Trans Am racing. Tom and Sam and Mike all lost track of the car after it was sold to the new Canadian owners.
Notes/Race History: Originally raced by original owner Tom Morgan in 1965 for a very short time in PHA, Pennsylvania Hill Climb Association events. Raced SCCA Northeast Region 25, and Phildelphia Region 31, Washington, D.C. Region 42 with Sam Armstrong from 1966 thru 1969. Mike Oleyar bought the car in August 69, and raced Pensylvania Hill Climb and later SCCA Trans Am. The car went to Canada in the early 70's and Dr. Carl Bartashunas and Jim Pue-Gilchrist raced it in Canada events. Dr. Carl and Jim painted it yellow. The car today was discoved in 2010 in the same livery.
Registry ID Number: 933
