I saw the failed arm restraint and can not recall the maker's name. This is probably because I had never heard of the name before. John Pittman was there at the time. Perhaps he made a note of it. It was not made by anyone recently in the news for making sub-standard safety gear.

I looked at the restraint. The stitching pulled apart where the strap attached to the arm band. I looked at the brand and noted only that I never heard of that brand before. Shame on me, I should have logged it somewhere. Rich R., did the accident report comment on the restraint failure? John

Don't know. Matt Giorgio was Safety Steward and he wrote the reports. We'll have to ask him.

Better known as Arm Restraints.

I inspected the broken item at Polish Mt. and have been researching it .

The TT rules state that all driver restraint systems have a SFI or FIA rating and I do not remember if the broken one had any rating label at all. I compared the constrution of the broken one to other types that have SFI labels and the broken one actually looked poor. All SFI ones had the strap that attached to the Seat belt go totally around the arm, the broken one did not, it was sewn to the side of the arm restraint and did not circle the arm. The sewn strap was where it failed (the sewing pulled loose).

Still researching it!

As the season gets closer and people are about to purchase new gear(if they need it), it would be nice to know what brand of wrist restraints failed at Polish so nobody else purchases them. Did anyone follow up on this???
