Re: New Time Trials Rules
Jeremy is correct, the old rules required 2 officials as a minimum at hillclimbs (PDX and level 2 also required 1 extra person). My initial interpretation of the new rules is that we can now operate an event with only one official. I would be curious who here thinks a hillclimb could be operated eff...

Re: New Time Trials Rules
While many people seem to be focused on the change to the roll bar/cage rule that is actually the easiest for PHA to address (if there is a desire to do so) and the least troubling to me as an official. But there are a whole host of other rules that are now nothing more than guidelines. Several peop...

Re: New Time Trials Rules
I don't know much about belts and helmets regarding dates and degradation. That will be left to the experts. I won't say I am an expert but the helmet rule change is interesting but I would say it didn't require the larger change. I am surprised to see the rule relaxed back from the official policy...

Re: New Time Trials Rules
I could go on about my concerns over this approach and will be happy to discuss it with anyone offline. Instead of filling up this site with a long post I will simply say that although they apparently realized that PHA would have significant concerns with this approach they choose to not engage our ...

Re: How to give points?
Rich Rock's description matches my own description and interpretation on the idea behind the awards. Typically I would say agree with Grace that mid year changes or clarifications to the rules are to be avoided. However, in this case it's a clarification where the main beneficiary has already agreed...

Just so that everyone is clear, by the "pits" does that refer to just the newly paved upper section or does that include the lower section under the trees as well?

Rick,
How do you know the transition causes very little disturbance "at speed"?

Re: License options
We typically acknowledge licenses from known groups with comparable licensing processes and training. Some examples would be SVRA and NASA. I'm not familiar with Raceway, what type of instruction, observation/novice period, and physical is required? Also, is there a requirement to run so many events...

Thanks Grace, this is good information and I'm glad you were able to help Ron. Outdated/corrupted cookies can indeed be a problem every once and awhile, it must be common enough that this forum includes a link at the bottom of every page to help. If you look at the bottom right there is a link to &q...

If you want to get really extreme we could just force them to let "Bad Matt" drive their car away from the hill.

Re: I am not making this up...
On the bright side if we can get our hills to be considered "hazardous road conditions" there is a real penalty to discourage the non-event people that ignore our barricades.

Re: Fall Weatherly questions?
As an official I can tell you a couple things. First, the 3 event rule really isn't a really a rule, its a guideline which gives the Novice Instructor and Chief Steward some flexibility in determining if the novice has suitably demonstrated skill, car control and responsibility. In some cases people...

Re: Hilclimb possibilities
A few thoughts, First, the hill looks like a lot of fun for street cars, I would be a little worried about the formula cars based on some of the ripples and possibly the crown in the road but it has possibilities. What was the distance and elevation change? I only saw a couple of driveways on the hi...

Thanks to Daryl and Jack and the Danko crew
In our hurry to get Jen back for an early shift I didn't get to thank Daryl and Jack, fortunately this gives me a reason to make this a little more public. So I want to offer a huge thanks to Daryl and Jack Danko for putting on a great event. With the local crowd, the typical worker and equipment sh...
