Re: I have a couple of quick questions...

I believe you will only be a novice at the events you haven't run before, 5 point harness is OK- 6 is better, and your helmet is still good thru 2010.

Re: roll cage questions

When you look at the detail illustration on the opt. diag. bar, it appears to be acceptable.

Re: roll cage questions

the G-Force suit in the adv. requires nomex underwear to be worn with the suit. If you get a multi-layer suit (SFI 3.2A/5-preferable), you won't need underwear. If you have facial hair you will need a balaclava. Consider arm restraints over a window net... See you on the hill!

Re: roll cage questions

As Richie says, the roll bar is good and it illustrates both the diagonal and the horizontal bars as well as a potential seat brace (the little horiz. bar that goes from the left side of the main hoop to the diagonal). Jerdeitzel is correct in saying ask a question...someone will answer you (I will ...

Re: roll cage questions

Some corrections to Jeremy's list...this is based on the 2008 TTR, the 2009 are not out yet... -A 2 pound minmum extinguisher is all that is required; make sure the mounting bracket is METAL not plastic -While it is recommended that you get a racing type seat, it is NOT required...yet. In general, g...

Re: The NEW and IMPROVED DURYEA HILLCLIMB

This is getting surreal! Critique some drunks' (possibly) entry into a corner? you must be kidding! (at least I hope you are) As to cable versus guardrail...think decapitation as the cable slids up the nose of the car and enters the cockpit. Morgan is right; there is guardrail at every other course ...

Re: Street Prepared Turbo cars should be moved to SM and SM2

Dave, I have a copy of the 2008 Duryea and Weatherly Supps in my hand and both contain this statement under CAR ELIGIBILITY: "...Historic, Vintage and Rally classes will also be eligible as per the SCCA TTR and these supplemental regulations." There is no other reference to Rally in the Su...

Re: Street Prepared Turbo cars should be moved to SM and SM2

Whether Eric Parkin's car was a "mockery" or not, didn't he actually compete in some rallys? More than one, I believe. I've looked at several supps from diff. events last year and Rallye isn't mentioned in them.

Re: Street Prepared Turbo cars should be moved to SM and SM2

Rich, I've appreciated your prior references to past PHA rules and practices ... there is nothing new under the sun, but each new group seems to think that they're the first to think about these things...and the first with answers. Deja-vu all over again.

Re: Street Prepared Turbo cars should be moved to SM and SM2

Dave, SCCA says that we must provide all SCCA classes with an opportunity to run...that doesn't mean we can't consolidate classes for the purpose of trophy awards. The idea of "cleaning up this class thing" sounds very much like what you alluded to (in a negative way) in your second paragr...

Re: Street Prepared Turbo cars should be moved to SM and SM2

Dave, you're saying that you need a Pro Rally Lic. to compete in Rally class? Does Al Corazzo (a major sponsor of Weatherly) have a pro rally license? He runs that class and wins. This is no reflection on Al, but I question the need for a pro license...where does it state that-in writing.

Are any of you familiar with the expression "reductio ad absurdum" (reduce to the absurd)? That's what it appears we're doing with this incessant need to change everything...some of us need to get a life...maybe people don't come to events because they don't like getting yelled at for noth...

Funny you should mention that! One of the ideas under consideration is two 50 gal. barrels filled with water strapped to the end of the guardrail (filled beforehand and slid off a tilt trailer).

Re: New Class Undeclared

The question, and it was a sincere one not an argumentative one, was not whether PHA could deny a sanction-they have nothing to do with sanctions-, but could or would SCCA deny a sanction because PHA would change a cars' class without SCCA's approval and then intimate the possible exclusion of an ev...
