Re: Prepping a Dodge Omni GLH Turbo

Just a note about your welding of the seams. I may be wrong depending on the class, but I recall I wanted to do that to my new car and found a section in the GCR that does not allow seams to be welded. I don't remember the section, but maybe someone else here can expand on this. Either of the Matts...

Re: What is a good starter car for hill climbs and why?

i agree with the statement regarding "passion". There are two cars (or better yet engines) that I've been a huge enthusiast of for some time now, Mazda Rotaries and Mopar 8v's. Looking over the list of cars i've owned and the extensive parts garden im growing, they represent the majority!!

Re: Prepping a Dodge Omni GLH Turbo

so i have an idea for the suspension that i need to verify with someone who does A2 VWs. The Omni is so similiar to the VW rabbit that im almost positive i could use VW dampers and springs for the suspension with very little modification since there are few options left for the omni.

Re: E85

geh, i once had a bad experience with Jack Daniels...

anywho, comverting my Omni to run off of E85 isn't my current concern as i have 80% of those angles figured out. But i wanted to make sure that when i arrive at an event, i don't get the boot.

it looks like im in SM1 just due to my motor selection. I really dont care to run the motor as a complete unit. Plus, its a 2.5 so it already put me out of the class. But OTHERWISE, the car is basically a street prepared. Its just the motor (the fun stuff) puts me right into street modified. Which i...

E85

Although it is not currently an allowable fuel, i think that the SCCA needs to start considering it as an option. Might be able to win some "going green" points or something. Who knows.

anyone agree with me?

Fuel cell in a hatchback type vechile

the 9.3.26 "Fuel cell specifications" states that there must be a bulkhead between the driver compartment and the fuel cell. So being that the hatchback vehicle lacks such an item. What is suggested? I've seen people on the rally forums putting a box around the fuel cell and bulk heading t...

Okay so what class should i be looking into?

I spent awhile this morning pouring over the PDFs on the SCCA website. But im still not 100% sure what class i should be running in. Im thinking in the production category, either level 1 or 2, but im not sure. Generally speaking prepared seemed to be 1990 and newer model years, which i have a 1985,...

Prepping a Dodge Omni GLH Turbo

But first, Background!!!!! Basically i bought this car over the summer on a whim. Several of my friends are turbo dodge fanatics, so it rubbed off on me. Its one of about 1300 in blue (ooo...rare omni) running the "T1" induction system which roughly translates to crappy intake manifold, cr...

POINT OF PARLIMENTARY PROCEDURE! i can handle the oily scent of 2stroke exhaust. Ive owned my fair share of rotaries! Maybe you had some bad apex seals, but a rotary and a 2-stroke are two different animals. Just don't let anyone tell you any SAAB stories. Booze cake, however, IS the food of the go...
