Still way ahead of me and my basket case Reynard FF. At least, I got on 4 wheels now and I have an engine.

#2Fv is Jay Smith's Zink. His son, Ian destroyed it at the Glen.

George Blouser emailed me this. The viewing for Brian will be Thursday morning at 11 am at the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St, Bethlehem, PA, (610-866-8059). Funeral services will be at 1 pm Thursday. Brian lived and breathed the SCCA. Over the years, I asked him many questions as a tech inspector...

Re: PHA Canopy Missing
Rich, I checked my old inventory records, when I was the treasurer as of March 2008. PHA had 3 canopies. Tom Knorr had one in the NEPA truck. Jen DeHart had one with her. Rick Kase had the oldest one that we listed in poor condition. To whom and where after that is anyones guess. Hopefully, the curr...

Re: thanks to all
Sorry to hear about the Mini, I just talked to John the other day and he was bragging about the new motor. How about putting a cage on the Moke copy? John used to run a Moke years ago. He had a lots of fun running it around the neighborhood with the buggy wip when I was a young boy. Had quite a neig...

Dave, Didn't you know that pointskeeper is right up there with President, Vice Pres., Sec., Treas.; it is a life time position. LOL! To save time, I used to copy of the previous years' points and zeroed everyone out, fiddled with the classes and moved names around. I would drop names that were not r...

Re: Jefferson
Rich, If I hit lottery, I might go wheel to wheel. Nah, after 39 years of hillclimbing, it is all that I know. Maybe I would build a 4 wheel drive , mid engine Special car with about 800hp and Bowland sized wings. I know that such cars existed in the early 70's but, were banned from the track that t...

Re: Jefferson
Everyone wants to go road racing, not me. We visit this topic about every 2-3 years and we get pros and cons on the subject. True, we do not get a ton of track time with the current format but, it is very KISS(KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID) friendly. One car at a time with lots of space in front and in back...

No problem, I saw an opening and took it.
I am surprised that people still read SportsCar. I thought most of us used it as emergency T.P. when the Job Johnny runs out.

Re: Found New Hillclimb Site
Jer, Maybe Matt Rowe can shed more light on this subject, generally a hillclimb site inspector is a seasoned TT safety steward with years of expirence. Generally, it comes down to how open is the arms of the community to have us come and play in their backyards as we see at Weatherly, Polish, Giants...

Re: Found New Hillclimb Site
Steve, SCCA does have some basic requirements as far as road to buildings distance, spectator areas, no jumps. If you find a site, it should be inspected by a SCCA licensed hillclimb inspector, if he or she thinks it is ok; then you need to make photos of the course, get a site plan of worker statio...

Re: Found New Hillclimb Site
Mel, Yeah, from time to time, I hear talk about Hobbie/Green Mt. but, nothing is done. Sitting between Giants and Weatherly might hurt it as far as sponsorship dollars. Plus, who would put it on? I really wanted Nazareth or Willow Grove and try to tap into my region's huge solo program to see how mu...

Re: Found New Hillclimb Site
Mel, I knew that you would chime in, what I was trying to offer was a blueprint of what I look for in a hillclimb site or TT site. I usually like to look for something fresh and new, because usually old sites had problems or issues and that is why they are old sites. As far as a second set of eyes, ...

Re: Found New Hillclimb Site
Finding new sites has so, many varibles before you can even let it out to the membership. 1. Can the site support us? Pit area, turn around, corner stations, spectator area, spectator parking 2. How many homes on the road? A hill with 100 homes on it is no good, either is one with buildings near it....

Re: Racing only one day worth it?
Thanks Dave for putting me on the spot. I have been around hillclimbing my entire life(39 yrs), it is all that I know, to the point my Mom raced when she was pregnant with me. I spent most of my early years sitting on the front fender of the Speedster as my Mom and Dad would switch out as drivers. F...

Re: New venue in North Carolina
Stan, All c'mon there is still hope for the F1 team out of NC. All the FIA needs is $1350 from you to be eligble for the next step and Bowland to design and build you a car. Then, have a gong show of American hillclimb drivers to fill the 2 seats or how about picking 1 Johnny Red and 1 Damn Yankee f...

Re: IMPACT Decertified by SFI
John, This is much bigger than just suits. The SCCA requires SFI patches on window nets, belts, and non-Snell helmets. Remember, Impact is the same company that was selling faux HANS tethers, now it using faux SFI labels. Seriously, folks if, you have any Impact gear; read the GCR and see how it appl...

Re: How about....FV?
Sue, Ron Fieni was a Fvee guy but, most of his PHA days were in a C Sedan Bug. My guess on #1 is Chuck Madison, he ran for many years and usually had automatic wins, especially against me and my tin can. I think that couple that you mentioned had a last name of Miller and lived near Perkasie because...

Wow, I forgot about John Grubb. I know him more from his car prep days(JandJ Racing) with the Bosch Super Vee series and Toyota Atlantic series than hillclimbing.

Re: How about....FV?
Yes, I do know the answer and it has nothing to do with PHA nor SCCA. Fillman did a lot of raod racing with EMRA, they had a budget version of Fv, called FV Continential; which I think everyone had to run a Continential tire. Hense, the C part of FVC. EMRA still has a budget version of Fvee with a 1...
