Re: Jefferson Expansion
Oh Im just trying to be my old aggitating self. I spoke to many drivers years ago and they expressed the same feelings. However, they never tried the other format either. I remember a few years back, several PHA drivers came to NJMP to help with their PDX. Those that drove it said they had a blast. ...

Re: Jefferson Expansion
The main purpose of the transponders was to get initial times to group cars by similar speed. The longer track would probably lead to more overtaking occurances. Forget that idea. I think it was the TT stewards that felt the track wasnt wide enough for passing. I too am not sure of that. It would be...

WAKE UP RACERS
What's going on. Anybody out there alive. Why no chatter? We are only like a dozen or so weeks to race season and nobody is talking? So, it's cold. can't work in the garage. What better time to be talking trash. I tried this before and it didnt work BUT Ill try again. TELL US WHAT YOU ARE WORKING ON...

Re: Jefferson Expansion
I vote for open practice, 15 minutes, limited passing. Use transponders, group by speed, 1 timed session at the end of each day, 3 Hot laps. Allow cars that can't do 3 hot laps to run twice at the end time allowing. Or, run both courses as seperate events. Short course first day, have some...

Re: Fuel Cells
There was a time that subjects like this would set me off. You all rmember?
But... check the rules. I'm a little out of touch. In Production, certain vehicles are already exempt on fuel cells if???? Check the GCR Mike.
GT? Grace might be another case. Good luck

VW's in GTL
Hello all my fellow VW (water cooled) Racers. In an effort to boost the GTL (GT LIte) catagory, SCCA is trying a new idea of GTL Limited Prep. Based on the success of LP in Production classes (Level 2), the BOD is embracing this new idea. First approved was an H/P eningine in the Nissan (Datsun) 510...

Merry Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas and out in the shop slept a cherished race car thick dust on it's top The motor was out the transmission in pieces the work had been stopped to see nephews and nieces The racer was sitting, eggnog in his hand. He watched the kids playing, and thought, "ain't this...

Re: Roll Bar Question
Just as a side note, Carroll Smith wrote in one of his books, (Engineer to Win, or Race Car Hardware maybe?) using Chrome Moly was a waste and unless several other skills and heat treating were availavble, could be less strong than mild steel. Not that I want to stir up controversy here? Just someth...

Hope you all don't mind if I jump in here to help.
Jason, STU is for under 3.2 L. If you are looking for a Club Race class, there is T2 but there are limits on modifications.
In any case you may want to consider up coming TT rule changes before making a decission.

Re: 2013 Duryea Hillclimb
An apology to all Duryea entries. There I was. 100 miles away in New Jersey. And I caused a delay at the event. I had just built a new engine and made repairs to the transmission in my Rabbit. A hillclimb is the perfect break in for a new motor. Short runs to heat up and a long cool down. Great test...

HELLO One and all! Glad you could all work this out without my 2 cents. After all, you know how emotional I get and you don't want to get me started again. It's been nice and civilized here. You know I have always been for the little guy. The dedicated competitor that is a consistant sportsman...

Re: Out of touch
Were you boycoting it Ron? Rich Rock sent the link to the results. Wayne Carini did run the restored Bathtub along with the Tojeiro (spelling differences between TV listing and Entry form). I spent an entire day watching a marathon of Chasing Classic Cars programs and never saw the one on the Bathtu...

Re: i figure an intro is due
Some time ago I wrote a couple different suggestions to the rules to National but never completed or sent them. That would be the place to make a broad change to the rules. Other wise I was suggesting that PHA include the modifications in their supps so as not to create a new class. We have had this...

Re: i figure an intro is due
At the risk of spoiling everyones holiday joy, I'd like to bring up an old suggestion. Why not exclude the requirements for full interiors in the Street Mod class? My reasoning is always the same. Street Mods are highly modified and should not have flammable materials inside the driver compartment. ...

Out of touch
I know I haven't been around for a while but I am surprised to find out some things on TV about our sport. While being bed ridden by an injury at home, i was surprised to find some hillclimb trivia on cable channels. I was watching a segment on Velocity about a rare Tojeiro-Climax that ran the Hersh...

Re: Scott Tucker/ love him or hate him
It would take too long to go over his career but every year at the SCCA Runnoffs, he is always a controversy. He is on a quest to set records on the number of race wins and Championships of all time. He remains obscure since he is usually in a sub class of the the big series. Like in the American an...

Scott Tucker/ love him or hate him
Just to keep the PHA members up to date on our member Aaron Yeager's involvement with Level 5, Scott Tucker's team. Tucker is not loved by many due to his business involvements but he is dedicated to racing. At the SCCA Runnoffs, he captured two National Championships and narrowly missed a third. Wi...
