Kill Switch
Dan, I do not think you full understand the purpose of a kill switch. A kill switch is for the corner workers to use in case of a crash(stuck throttle) or fire(fuel pump) to kill all the electrical circuits. On most cars, you would still need your ignition switch or key to start and run the car. As ...

Kill Switches
Dan, First, Showroom Stock and Touring cars are not required to have a kill switch and I would assume that Street Mod and Street Prepared are also not required to have one. Otherwise, if you do put one in your car, it must be done as per the GCR section 17.27. In a closed car, the GCR requires that ...

Joe Cyburt runs a C3 Corvette from Weatherly, PA but, I doubt he could tell you much about putting in a rollbar/cage since he is the 2nd owner of the car. Phoenix Performance Group in Palm, PA(Rt. 29 just south of Rt. 100)has done a ton of Touring 1 cages for C-5 and C-6 Corvettes. I know Kurt could...

Mel, Yes, it was before my time. I guess I wasn't impressed when I meet Donna Mae Mims at a Porsche club event in the mid-80's. I was more interested in listening to the stories that Bruce Jennings(Donna Mae's date), Charlie Beidler, Bob Holbert, and my Dad were telling that night about the old days...

Thanks, Joe
Joe, Thanks for making my Mom feel so, old and I don't see the big deal about Donna Mae Mims. My Mom drove in National road races in 1961 with an Austin Healey 3000 that she flat towed behind a 1959 Chevy Belair convertible with my older sister and brother in the back seat. She did this all by herse...

Fabio and Paul, The rule is belts in good condition up to five years. FIA belts have an expire date on them, meaning that after that date they are no good. SFI belts, like Fabio's, has birthday, which in his case are 7/02. Add five yrs. to it which is 7/07, SCCA allows belts to be carried to the 31st...

Dave, As of right now, PHA doesn't have a tech day. I must stress that you should seek a TT inspector due to different levels of prep between the TT and Club racing programs. What may work for a TT, may not work for a Club race. Roy, The tech day in Maryland is a WDC region event and should be poste...

Matt, Do not view yourself as using the forum incorrectly, your questions are good ones and that is exactly part of the reasons we have this forum. Currently there is no real place to direct someone about our safety rules; especially when it deals with a Solo2 classed cars, until SCCA puts up the ne...

Steve, I don't know if, this changes with the new rules, but as per 04 rules. A master cut-off switch is highly recommended for all production sports cars and sedan, and mandatory for all formula and sports racing cars. The Street Prepared rules do not address anything dealing with kill switches. Rich

seat back brace
Please take a look at GCR 18.1.2 and GCR 18.3.5, those sections provide all of your answers. A Kirkey aluminum seat would need a seat brace to be legal. If the seat was a FIA standard 8815-1999 or higher, then no seat back would be required. If the seat was non-intergral seat, you need a head restrai...

Matt, You can fill the forms out at the event but, to make life easier for everyone, you should fill them out(If you have a good medical history, no exam is needed, just fill out the medical history part) and send them in to SCCA ahead of time. Remember, your license expires with your membership, me...
