Re: Licensing question?

Thanks Matt. I'll let them know. This kid was a Red Bull karting finalist a couple of years ago and has one of those Diasio sport racers. I've seen him race a couple of times at VIR and he is very good and safe too. I guess he has been racing something since 8 years old. I just want him to try SCCA ...

Licensing question?

Am I correct that SCCA now allows 16 year olds to hold a comp license with parental approval? A friend of ours has a son who holds a full NASA comp license and races a DSR. We are trying to move them away from the "dark side" but he thinks he must be 18. I told him that is not the way I re...

Re: AUTO WORLD CATALOG

Dave,
I didn't forget, it just takes time to go through over 4 decades of magazines and catalogs. The one I have is #18 from 1984. I'm sure I had more but can't find them, now. Anyway I don't see any information about the "Shark" products or the 1976 Trans Am winner in this one.

Dave,
I did have one somewhere around here. I was a customer for years but have never met Oscar. I'll look for it this weekend.

Hillclimb History

Ron, Thanks so much for your work on the history of this crazy sport we love. Now you must think about putting all this into a form that can be enjoyed by others and kept for postarity. Here is a company that is famous for publishing local history and specialty subjects. I'll preorder 4 myself. http...

Rather than "FTD" or "FTW". How about "King of the Mountain". That has a certain ring to it.

I'm up for that! Good times, no? I'm ready to drag the ol' Caldwell out of the shed and put the boot to it.

Re: Really off topic

Don't believe Dave. he lives 10 miles from the beautiful sands of Virginia Beach and never sets foot on it. I don't know how he knows about my beach girls. But yes the weather's great. But remember, your northern winters make you guys tough and resilient. Morg, Mary Anne, Mel and Joe, thanks for the...

Re: History of Hershey Hill Climb presentation...

Ron,
I'll see you at the Hershey Hillclimb, for sure. First time since 2004. Here's a car I'm tryng to talk the owner into entering. Perhaps not the horse for the course but a crowd pleaser I'm sure. http://www.glennbunch.com/

Really off topic

I realize this is really "off topic" but I'm sort of a political junkie and during this most interesting campaign, I've heard, a few times, that Pennsylvania is policically "Philadelphia and Pittsburg with Alabama in between". Also the Governor seems to believe that it's your res...

Re: History of Hershey Hill Climb presentation...

Ron,
For those of us with a interest, but too far away to attend, do you think you could have the Hershey presentation videoed so that we might see it? Just asking.

Your right, that should really be one of the major stories. I'm just wondering what the crew, who went down to see it "live", have to say.

Re: #5 Alvey Ford

Ron, Way back in the late 70s and early 80s I belonged to the Tarheel Sports Car Club. We ran autocrosses on the old Rocky Mount Airport runways. These courses were often over a mile in length and featured speeds of over 100 MPH for the fastest cars. Really more like a Solo 1 or Time Trial than what...

Re: Hershey Vintage Hill Climb...2008

Now that I think about it. The Rutan car with the Porsche 550 Spyder engine in a fabric body is a very famous "vintage" hillclimb machine that never would have been a road racer. Also, the guy who set the OA Hershey hill record the last year they ran it, told me they knew it was the last o...
