Don,
The 914 is a Philly Region guy that ran alot of solos in the mid-90s, I think he only ran 1 or 2 hills and dropped out. I think he was going to college at Drexel and parents could only afford a 914.

Yeah, the Bugeye is Captain 2 Stroke, aka Chuck Christ driving his ex-Dave Roethel Bugeye and late member of the Lavender Hill Mob gang that was the driving force behind Marlboro Speedway in Maryland. Dave's ex-wife Sue was a long time road racing chief steward.

Where is the tech police, no hood(er, British car, no bonnet) on Merlin's car. Certainly can not be approved to run.

No,no give me an " E " , much more juicier topic; at one time 3 separate classes, lots of drivers. We got no respect being bounced around from Saturday to Sunday back to Saturday every year, while A got all of the attension on Sunday. Damn, big boomers. LOL! I can almost name every A drive...

John, Yeah, B Production has not been around since the very early 80's when A, B Production and A Sedan merged into GT1(requires a cage). As far as changing bumpers, if the 86 is listed on the same spec line with the 73 version you can update or backdate bumpers in Street Prepared as a complete unit...

John, First, we only have Solo classes for Street Prepared, Street Mod, Solo Vee, we also have PHA classes for Special and Vintage/Historic, the rest are GCR classes in the SCCA GCR. With what you have I would not go past SSM, you will either fall into GCR GT2 or Specials 2(1650cc-3500cc) or 3(3501c...

Very good Ron but, I am surprised that you do not have a picture of a DKW running the hills! NSU, I believe also made motorcycles. What is next on our rare birds; a Yugo, MG 1100, AC Bristol, DB Panhard, Lister, Talbot, BMW 507. During the holidays, I had a real treat of going to the Simeone Museum ...

Bill, I would rather have torque than horsepower because torque is what is needed to pull you out of the turns and up the hill against the forces of gravity; but neither is any good without some handling thru the turns that is why Bowland is so, good. He does not have the most powerful car at hills ...

Sorry, I was off to work because I owe, I owe on an enclosed trailer; but it is a NSU Prinz. NSU was the first company to develop the Rotary Wankel and the melodious sound that Dave loves to hate. Today, NSU is a part of Audi or 1 of the four rings. What was the other 3 companies that made up Auto U...

The pit area is going to be much quieter without Joe. My best story of Joe, didn't even happen at a hillclimb. I was 19 and flagging for a paving crew on 202 in Bucks County. I had traffic stopped and Joe come flying up the road with his plain clothes cop car; not realizing that it is me, he whipped...

Yes, Jake's car is a Cooper-Chevy and it is Craig Smith's old car. Some these cars are also known as King Cobras, Shelby modified a few with 289 Ford V-8s for the USRRC championship with the late Bob Holbert and the late Dave McDonald doing the driving. Last time, I talked to Jake was at Pocono, he ...

Don, PHA was incorporated in 1963 as a sanctioning body much like SCCA and Nascar, prior to this it was a group of events mostly refered to as the PA State Hillclimb Championship. In the mid-1970's, the local sports car clubs like the Old York Road Sports Car Club could not get insurance coverage fo...

John, 1. Rollbar is still good for SP or SM. 2. Window net is ok, as long as it is attached to the car and not the door. Arm restraints are only needed for an open car(no roof) or a car without a window net.3. All lights must be taped. 4. Car number and class can be magnetic but, must meet the GCR a...

Re: Rule Compliance
I guess as the youngest old fart around here I should clear a few things up. For many years, the PHA followed the SCCA GCR with our own twist on classes like Touring, Modified, Formula, Marque classes. In 1979, SCCA mandated cages for road racing and for many years, one could find the old GCR rollba...

What happened to the old Solo1 rule for Solo Prepared cars that meet the safety rules could run in the appropriate GT or Production classes? Did it carry over to the TT rules? The Solo Prepared rules allow tires to stick out past the fender. Grace has ran the car as a Solo Prepared car at Philly Sol...

John, You might be able to run in Street Prepared, I do not know if the Boxster front brakes would be a legal option, usually you can only update and backdate in model lines listed in the Solo book. Make sure that the car meets all the safety stuff, make sure the MOMO seats meet the FIA standards fo...

Dave, Thank you for the information. The Jefferson events are really not that far out of line. The big question is how to get drivers that ran Giants, Polish, and Duryea out to other events. Polish is not that far from Jefferson, and Giants is not that far from Weatherly or Rose Valley, with Duryea ...
