Re: two classes, two drivers, one car
I routinely run the same car in 2 different classes from 1 event to another. For example, my current ride is Gordon's former Neon, now yellow. It has a stock motor and original ACR suspension - EXACTLY as it was run when it was a SSC car. A header was added as well as a cold air intake and computer ...

Re: two classes, two drivers, one car
This is a way for the PHA to take in more money as well, so I have no objections. I know that in the past, there were some precedents for this as your son and ex-brother in law ran the Mazda 323 in 2 different classes, but it required that the seat be taken out between runs. That is just silly to ha...

Re: In-car video of polish mtn wreck!
Mark typically puts his car in a slight drift in a turn like that. I have watched him many times. Rich Rock and I were at the elbow, and he entered early there too but the car drifted right out to the edge as he countersteered - the whole time never lifting. Mark said that his left rear tire lost gr...

Re: What is a good starter car for hill climbs and why?
Mike Ancas came up with a theory this past season on what it takes to be a fast hillclimb driver. I remember that one of the (three or four) requirements was that you need to feel no love for the car you are driving. Hey Mike, what are the others?
Well, the other 3 don't have much to ...

Top 10 class winners of all time
OK - you should probably let us know which ones are right an which are wrong. Also, I have a few more - Lloyd Geib, Pat Enzman-Alspach and for sure - Alvey Ford. Also, how about Rob Campbell? When you tell us the final 10 (or 13), you should post 1 per day for a week starting with 10th overall.

All time class winners
Here's my guess for the top 10 - no particular order: Bob Oswald, Sr., Rich Rock, Dave Yeager, Kerry Hitt, Rolf Mair, Merlin Miller (has anyone ever beaten Merlin), Dave Fillman, Ted Klaus, Darryl Danko, Barry Griffith

Turbo cars in Street prepared
OK - this is your last chance to present arguments against having a ban on turbo cars in the PHA Street Prepared classes. I have a great story to illustrate my reasoning. Jeremy Deitzel (Black EVO 8 in SM) was new to hillclimbing this year, but still set 2 SM records. He went under 2 minutes at Dury...

Too Many Classes
I'll bet we can come up with a simple bump system for trophies - the bumped competitor (even if he/she gets no trophy due to a bump) would still earn full class points towards the end of the year class champion. I think, while we are at it, we could come up with some fun classes for trophies (not cl...

I love the idea of bumping - we do it in autocross all the time. It saves the region lots of money on trophies. Sometimes, the class that has 3 competitors gets a stray from a lesser class bunped into it, and they don't think that is fair whenever that stray beats them. "We already have a class...

Sorry - I thought of another important question. What tires are permitted? The guys at VIR we running non DOT slicks, but I can't find any consistency between the regions I have looked at (except that so far everyone has the cutoff at 2.5L). Again, we need to get these rules set in stone and put int...

SPU/SPO classing
OK, so what is the deal with these classes. I have heard that the cutoff is 3.5L, but the Northern New Jersey Region SCCA has the cutoff at 2.5L. That was the same cutoff they used at VIR when we ran there a few years ago. What about a rotary? Last time I checked, a 1.3L Rotary translated to a 2.6L ...

Air bags
He has everything else ready. I also noticed that for hillclimbing, there are several cars that still have their air bags. I know that for road racing, the air bags have to be removed. I assume that he can keep his air bags instead of having to remove them, since that would mean he wouldn't be able ...
