Getting ready to stick this AutoPower roll bar in a 71 Vette and I'm just curious.....

Can I weld the main bar and kickers right to the frame? or must I weld them to mounting plates, and then weld the plates to the frame??

I'll be there as a first timer to Jefferson and I think my Brother's Vette will be ready just in time for the event, too. Ain't it just like a racer, working on his ride right up to the final day before the event?

Sounds simple enough, except that it's a fiberglass body.......wouldn't want to melt anything in the welding process and we also want to see the best way to weld it to the frame. (ie. an L shaped base or a flat base.)

We'd really like to install it ourselves, but maybe we can get some ideas and tips/tricks from them. Thanks for the info.

We're trying to get my brother's 71 Vette ready for Jefferson and all we have left to do is the roll bar. However, we're not sure how we can mount it to the frame without removing the whole damn body. So I was just curious if there is anyone out there that has a 71 with a roll bar or cage in it and ...
