Matt, congrats on finally getting that in there. I'm sure you and Matt G. are very proud. Also note that Item #11 may impact some of us, so start saving up for that fire system. Here comes that slippery slope! I wonder, in the last 25 years of hillclimbing, how many times has an extinguisher (of any...

Do you think they would want to piss off a major manufacture and series sponsor with 9 factory NHRA teams when they tell them there car ($$product$$) can't run because it is too fast and doesn't meet the rules? Well, let’s make the rules fit the car...... Which came first, the chicken or the egg? T...

Funny you mention the Viper. Because of the shear power and speed of the Vipers, combined with the fact that they pass national highway safety crash tests, NHRA has lowered the ET requirements for roll bars. That's right, they actually expanded the performance potential in cars before requiring a ro...

Tim,

With Google Video and YouTube, you surrender some rights to your own footage (main reason I would never touch them).

Do you know if mydatabus is the same way?

Thanks,

That's an interesting solution Brian. The next question, for those that are concerned about retention & recruitment, would be will the roll bar folks be willing to go this route or would they still leave? If I would have continued in hillclimbing, this would have been a worthwhile alternative to...

As they have not applied to me, I'm not familiar with the rules for cages.
I know for a roll bar , the main hoop has to be once continuous piece.

Is that not true of the front hoop of a cage?

Having that all one piece is why I was thinking transportation would be a huge headache.

I don't feel that really solves the problem,
but I applaud your efforts to find a workable compromise.

I drive to a vast majority of my events. Where could I store a bolt-in cage on the way there and back? How about the Fiero? What about the Miatas? A bolt-in option does not really solve the problem from what I can tell. It may be a workable solution for some. To really find out if that is an accepta...

Jeff, if your are concerned about your unhelmeted head striking a cage you should also be equally concerned about it striking the roll bar. 100% agreed. I've never stated that I am not concerned about the dangers of my bar. It is very much a concern of mine and it is factored into the level of risk...

Is the resistance due to having to wear a 5-6 pt harness on the street? Not for me. My resistance (no, refusal) is having added bars around my unhelmeted head. 3-pt or 5-pt harness does not make a difference in that concern for me. Maybe you should check the facts before you make a statement such a...

I do not know what belts he was using at the time of the crash.

Brian, this happened on the street. He hit a tree or a pole right behind the driver's area. Rick, from what I understand, Ross's statement about not being here if he had a cage is based on the injuries he incurred in this incident. His injuries were from his head coming into contact with the car, no...

Ross Wessner would like to add input, but is having technical issues with using this forum. He has also indicated that he can not make Jefferson.

Please see his e-mail that I posted here:

Some updated information and feedback from another member, Ross Wessner. I posted for him HERE because his account is not functioning on this forum. Apparently that has not been resolved as he still can not post. He can only view. At any rate, I am merely sharing his e-mail and photos since he canno...

Another John Champion memory ...

I was just sorting through some stuff at my desk here at the Eagle and I was going through as pile of our previous Mature Living sections and came upon the one we did featuring the over 50 racers. John was our cover image for that issue. Rest in peace, John. http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/images/Joh...

Re: PHA response on roll cage issue

It is believed that the next Fastrac will have the rules published and start the period for comments which is 60 days so we can't wait for the next meeting to put it to a vote. The new issue of Fastrack is out: http://www.scca.org/_FileLibrary/File/07-fastrack-may-full.pdf And, unless I am missing ...

There was a mention of including the "cages for all cars" rule in the supps for next year's PA hillclimbs.

If I recall correctly, it was in the SCCA forum thread.

Hello Dave, Good luck writing a suitable compromise letter. It will be a challenge considering the very polarized opinions on the subject. But, if anyone can do it, I would say it is you. I still think your initial suggestion of restricted classes was a perfect start to finding a reasonable solution...
