Re: Racing only one day worth it?
In my opinion if you can only do either sat. or sun. sunday would be the better choice. I say this only because somtimes by sunday either cars are broken, records are broken, drivers are out of gas (tired and the fuel ) and the run groups get smaller as the day goes on.

Re: Interesting
Any idea if the chief engineer mentioned in the article is the same Mark Donohue that most of us know and love? It has to be. He first drove a Ford Mark 2 for John Holman in 1966 I think. So there is great chance it is the same Donohue. Great find Steve!!!

Re: Cannonball Run
I have the book and it is a really great read. One of the funniest stories is about a guy who replied to an ad to drive a new car out to California for somebody. There was contract stating that he could not exceed the speed limit, no racing,,blah, blah, blah. The car was pretty trashed buy the time he...

Re: Hankook Z214 C70
Wow Steve thanks for that website!!! First time I have ever seen it. It might be time to upgrade the brakes on one of my other Mustangs. I am running calipers and pads from The Brakeman on my racecar. We were allowed to switch over to real racing calipers and rotors a few years ago and I made the sw...

Re: Hankook Z214 C70
Thanks for the follow up Steve. I know I am running a different compound than you but I also found that they work best at a pretty low 28 to 30 psi cold pressure. I have to be real careful for the first couple laps in a roadrace then they start to come in and hook up well. I can really throw the car...

Re: Hankook Z214 C70
Oof, that is pretty scary looking!!! I am running Hankook's as well but I have the C50 compound. I have checked all 8 of mine and they are fine (as of now). Just to clarify, did you turn the tires inside out and then run them for a bit or did you take them off and notice the cracks? Please keep me i...

Re: The Kings of Giant's Despair...
The decade of the 80's is over but it was exciting, it was pretty much ruled by the formula cars. In 1990, however, Carl Jones and his Chevy "sports racer" attacks the hill. On his last run of the day…he takes FTD with a time of 49.786. Jim Cosner & Peter McCarthy stayed in the hunt. ...

Re: Start line - Giants
Why does it really matter? The timer starts 10 feet from the staging spot. Lite turns green, roll over the chock then do what ever you want. The chock used for Giants is just a rope that is folded up and taped. Not very thick and it turns out to be just enough to hold the car from rolling forward.

Re: When are we allowed into Jefferson?
Thank you Morg!!! I was thinking the same thing but I thought I would ask. And I was not going to comment about Georges reply but since it hit a nerve with me I have to get it off of my chest. I applaud Dave for having ideas and wanting to see things be safer for us drivers. As well as the ideas he ...

I have never met you Ryan and you have no idea who I am. But I can understand how you are feeling. I went through the same thing in 2003. One of my best friends Dell Griffen died in a crash while driving the same RX-7 that he raced in on the street (the car was street legal). I had a real bad wreck ...

Call me crazy Ursula but judging by the '01 stamped on the bottom of the pic I would say it was from June 18 2001 . I remember it well. Darryl either slid wide or got too close to the guide cable at the exit of turn 5.

Re: Proposals for PHA meeting
I would like to note that I mean no ill will toward the organizers of Weatherly!! The road condition is not their fault in any way!!! They ARE great people who have gone above and beyond anything we could ever ask for as guests. I totally enjoy everything about Weatherly. My girlfriends parents live...

That was one FAST Mustang!!! And the bark that would come from the pipes even made my "Chevy" friends smile. I don't have any digital pics from my happening but if anyone does feel free to post them.

Re: Proposals for PHA meeting
Rich, As of now I am hoping to attend Spring Jefferson, Pagoda, and hopefully Duryea. Well, Duryea is on the same weekend as the NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove again this year so we will have to see about that. The Siren call of Nitro burning 8,000+ hp cars is pretty strong. I would love to run Weath...

Re: Impact Racing Product Recall
Unless somebody finds this stuff cheap on E-Bay or a closeout online. It is true that the recalled items have a rating above what we require but if SCCA National cares enough to put out a bulletin it should be on our radar shouldn't it? We don't require FIA rated suits but people have them. I am jus...
