Re: NEED TO CONTACT ADOLF BATTIFARNO

Adolph Battifarno is as real as Isambard Kingdom Brunel but Adolph holds the PHA H1 record at Weatherly in his Lotus 7.

Ignatius Z. Yelswo is not real. This name was often quoted by early Chicago newsman as an eye witness to many, unrelated events.

RON MANN AND THE SUPEROO ON HEMMINGS DAILY

Mike Warnock, my Chicago friend, found the following article featuring Ron Mann and the Superoo on Hemmings Daily: http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2012/11/01/wrxs-grandpa-meet-superoo-americas-first-factory-backed-subaru-race-car/?refer=news Ron made sure that the PHA was mentioned numerous times...

NEED TO CONTACT ADOLF BATTIFARNO

I was looking for Adolf's e-mail address. It is not in my files. I recently purchased a 1964 Lotus 7A to replace my Bugeye Sprite. This car was posted in the VSCCA ads. I would like to contact Adolf to get some tips on what I should be looking for in the chassis. If you have his e-mail or PHA contac...

Re: WANKER ALERT FROM WILSONVILLE, OREGON

The Pacific North West has a very active car culture. For example, Ron Tomkin motors is planning to move their Ferrari/Maserati dealership from Portland to Wilsonville. This will be about a mile from my home. I am hoping they have a position for an old guy to sweep floors or pour coffee in the servi...

WANKER ALERT FROM WILSONVILLE, OREGON

Over 2500 miles separate Pittsburgh, PA from our new home in Wilsonville, OR but the PHA Pittsburgh contingent would feel at home. Right there on 8499 Main Street Wilsonville, OR is the WANKER’S CORNER restaurant. To the true Wankers I recommend looking into the SHOP on the website -http://www.wanke...

A BELATED THANK YOU TO THE PHA FROM OREGON

When I noticed the results from the 2012 Polish Mountain event I realized that I have been out of touch for two seasons. Maybe a few of you have been wondering what happened to that Polish guy with the black Bugeye. I can safely report that I am alive but a lot has happened since my last event at th...

PHA IN AUTOMOBILE QUARTERLY

I just finished A LONELY DEATH, the latest Charles Todd mystery set in post WW1 England (Note - If you read various British mystery authors it is a wonder that any people are remaining, especially among the Betters). I needed an automotive book to clear my brain when Volume 50 Number 3 issue of Auto...

HERSHEY "GRAND ASCENT" 2011

I was reading the December 2010 Hemmings Classic Car last evening. There was a small article about a planned car show at the Hershey Hotel in June 2011. The article mentioned the Grand Ascent "demonstration runs" of vintage sports and race cars on the Hershey Hillclimb course. Here is the ...

PHA IN JUNE ISSUE OF SPORTSCAR

Everyone needs to thank Rich Sweigart for taking the time to remind SCCA of the fantastic program put on by PHA. Rich's letter appears on page 10, Rants & Revs, of the June 2010 issue of SPORTSCAR. Maybe PHA can get some photos, results and a hint of recognition in the Divisional Reports for the...

JOHN STINSMEN - WORLD FAMOUS IN HEMMINGS SPORTS & EXOTIC CAR

I was reading the May 2010 issue of Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car when I came across a familiar face on page 29. There was a smiling John Stinsmen who provided one of the Owner's Stories for an article on the Aston Martin DBS.

Great car and article.

IGNITION CUT-OFF SWITCH - ALTERNATOR DIODE FAILURES

I am asking the collective technical genius of the PHA to solve a dilemma. At Weatherly I noticed my voltmeter was indicating approximately 10-11 volts DC and it never moved to the 14 volts DC post-start battery charge mode. Fortunately my battery is larger and newer then my Bugeye engine so it neve...

The Fall Weatherly videos are fantastic. Has anyone posted any event photos?

This was my first Weatherly. I want to see how my Bugeye managed the jump.

50TH ANNIVERSARY ARTICLE FOR SPORTSCAR?

I have been a participant in PHA events for only four years. In that short time I have enjoyed the people , competition and venues. I admire all of the hard work that the organizers, volunteers and communities give to make each event a success. The success of PHA is one of SCCA's best kept secrets. ...

GIANT'S DESPAIR LOCAL TV VIDEO

I just watched Fabio's link. That was excellent coverage. I added some short, out of car footage of my own to YouTube. Did anyone see the coverage from the local Fox 56 channel on Sunday evening? At least I thought it was Fox 56. I think my Bugeye was included in the short. Does anyone have a link t...

Re: Giants Despair 2009

Here is some out of car footage from Giant's Despair. My friend from Chicago, Mike Warnock, captured the following videos of my Bugeye Sprite. They are on YouTube. Launch into the climb to turn , the first 100 feet up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76O1zGRj4WI My favorite. Entering turn 1 thru the ...

Re: Start line - Giants

If you are looking for an alternative to chocks check out the videos from the Gurston Down Hillclimb in the UK. The course drops 30 feet at the start line. The start line crew hold the cars by the body and rear wings.
