Summit Point Survey
Got an email from the DC region about a survey for Summit point. I thought it was worth sharing here. It’s been two years since I’ve been down to run but I suggested showers at Jefferson and Shenandoah. “ Dear Visitor to Summit Point Motorsports Park, The sale of Summit Point Motorsports park to the...

Re: Duryea
First off, glad you're ok. Secondly I see what you mean and I went through my videos to see what we experienced. It was a conversation for me all weekend how we have rally suspension which soaks up so much that we have no issues with stability where most others do. Between 5a and 5b the car is no ef...

Re: New Time Trials Rules
As PHA president, I had no prior knowledge of the development of the new time trial rules. No one in my region or PHA was aware of these impending changes in the time trial rules. PHA has been in existence for 54 years and runs more hillclimbs than anyone else. Unfortunately, SCCA does not collect ...

Re: New Time Trials Rules
Keith, I'm confused. How is losing 2 SS brake lines relevant to the rule change or level of risk? Exactly! The level of risk is the same. The rules should not have anything to do with a driver’s ability to control their situation, because as I was trying to explain you can’t control everything. I t...

Re: New Time Trials Rules
Several people have pointed out that as drivers you each can make your own assessment of what level of risk you are willing to accept and that is absolutely true. You make your choices and when your behind the wheel you control your outcome. This post is in no way attacking Matt Rowe. It is instead...

Re: Hill Climb in Northern Italy
I just saw this come across my facebook on saturday. It's a little crazy because of how blind the corners are.

Re: New Time Trials Rules
Ted, you brought up 24 hours of Lemons. This is directly from their rules page at http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/pricesandrules.aspx "3.1: Rollbar and Structure: Professionally made full rollcage required." Am I missing something? Tom, I've got a Private Message headed your way about an op...

Re: New Time Trials Rules
I don't know much about belts and helmets regarding dates and degradation. That will be left to the experts. I've been wondering how the sun / UV degrades belts. I'm thinking along the lines of open cars where the sun is potentially hitting them all the time versus closed cars where it isn't. Don't...

Re: New Time Trials Rules
Not the best way to not want to start an argument by calling a very respected hillclimber ignorant. I don't mean to call anyone in particular ignorant (and lets be clear I said ignorant, meaning lacking knowledge or uneducated on a topic, and not stupid) but simply that statement. Also, I think tha...

Re: New Time Trials Rules
I am not here to get in an argument over this. People can make up their own minds. I'm not either. I think some of the issue here is that time trials covers a broad range of things. While I think relaxing some things for the lower level events is fine, while relaxing them for a hillclimb is not. th...

Re: New Time Trials Rules
I could go on about my concerns over this approach and will be happy to discuss it with anyone offline. Instead of filling up this site with a long post I will simply say that although they apparently realized that PHA would have significant concerns with this approach they choose to not engage our...

Re: scca elections
I'm going to go out on a limb and share something that may be considered controversial or just dirt slinging, but it's true and there are other people who shared in my experience and subsequent feelings. I first met Mike Collins while sitting in on an equipment/safety seminar at the NEDIV round tabl...

Re: Falken Azenis RT615K to Hoosier R6
Ran the Falkens on saturday and then the Hoosiers on Sunday. Hoosiers were good for 2.1 second before the car broke. (See my post in photos and videos for that story) Seemed to be up to temp after one lap, but even right off the line they were better than the Falkens. I was never lower than 3rd gear...

Fall Jefferson Second run on sunday - Brake hose Failure
Below you will find a link to the only in car video I took the entire weekend, and as it turned out the "most exciting" of all my runs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7n2RIQaZpA It was the second run of group 2 sunday morning. The brake pedal had felt a little soft and slow to respond on ...

Re: Falken Azenis RT615K to Hoosier R6
Well, it looks like I just bought a set of R6s. I saw the "make an offer" button on ebay and now I have a set of 60-50% tread tires headed my way... For $200 how can I complain! Jefferson should be interesting. Maybe we'll run saturday on the Falkens and then sunday on the Hoosiers to comp...

Re: Falken Azenis RT615K to Hoosier R6
So there are two reasons I'm looking at the R6 and not the A6. 1. Jefferson Circuit. Running about 1 minute laps with 4 laps including the in and out half laps, that's about twice as long as the longest autocross I've ever been to. I figured that might be too much for them and they might over heat a...

Falken Azenis RT615K to Hoosier R6
How drastic or noticable of a difference is there in performance going from a Falken Azenis RT615K to a Hoosier R6 tire on the hills? We have a set of the Falken Azenis RT615K that we bought to run Mount Washington, which is about 10% gravel, and they serve that purpose rather well. I've now come to...

Snowshoe Hill Climb, West Virginia, July 27-28, 2013
http://www.rallywv.com/hillclimbcompetitorinfo.html In conjunction with the 2013 Rally West Virginia, there will be a 2 day Hillclimb on one of the back roads leading up to the Snow Shoe Ski Resort. The Snow Shoe Ski Resort is about 3 hours South West of where we hold Polish Mountain, in a very ver...
