Re: Ne1 see the show -Jesse James is a Dead Man
Mark has a pretty good point, but does Stat Boy or anyone else know what the oldest street car to go sub 2 minutes is? I'm guessing Dan's Mustang is a '91? Jeremy's Evo a 2006? What's the oldest car though? I'm hoping to make him use a early 60's or late 50's car. I'm cool with whatever though. Also...

Re: Ne1 see the show -Jesse James is a Dead Man
I think a cooler idea and more realistic goal would be to give him the goal of breaking the 2 minute mark in a street car 1 year older than the oldest sub 2 minute street car. When I say street car, I mean doorslammer with an interior. I also think it would be smart to incorporate a donation of some...

That's the link for this year's results, in case you want to check it out. The times are interesting.

Re: Ne1 see the show -Jesse James is a Dead Man
I just think it would be great to get him out. Imagine an hour long national commercial for Duryea and our hillclimbing series. It's nice to put on the resume' when trying to attract major sponsors. I think we can all agree that Duryea, like Pike's Peak, is a tough task for any driver the first time...

Re: Ne1 see the show -Jesse James is a Dead Man
Several years ago Jesse did try to build a Blazer for hill climbs. He enlisted the help of several people from NEHA, but ignored their advice. These folks were well aware of Butch King's Blazer and tried to get Jesse to realize that his quest had already been done by someone else -- and done much m...

Mark, you were amazing at Duryea. Dave sorry to derail the thread. Thought it was an interesting topic, though. I'll shut up now.

Re: Hill / Class Records
Dan L, I think your car is pretty close to Steve and Adam's in power to weight considering your 4-valve swap. The engine in the Mach 1 isn't much different than the 4-valve from the Lincoln Mark VIII on up to the 01 Cobra. Now the 2 valve that came in the car, that's another story! I agree with you...

Nah, it's always been about fun with racing for me. After all, we're not getting paid to do this. I do think you can be competitive and have fun at the same time though. And I do think you can keep things relatively equal. But I will never discredit anyone's records or driving ability. Time is time,...

Re: Hill / Class Records
Dan, Take our engine, put it in your car with proper tuning, suspension and tire and WE would be at the disadvantage due to your wieght advantage and there would be nothing we could do about it. No matter what the SCCA does to "make it fair" to one person, it's always going to be unfair t...

Re: Hill / Class Records
There is no provisions in the rules that really level the playing field for something like Steves Mach 1 to say a '93 Mustang GT in SP. A Mustang is a Mustang as far as the rules go. Bingo, because you are limited to what you can do to keep up with the Joneses in HP in some classes, such as SP. As ...

Re: Hill / Class Records
Ok class, here we go, pay attention now.................. I was using a small sampling of two SCCA classes to show a larger problem within the SCCA as it relates to hillclimbs. Steve's the winner (we all know how much you love to win, cause you tell us every chance you get  ) as he said "...

Re: Hill / Class Records
I'm a simple guy. I'd like to keep it simple but that kind of comparison leaves out all consideration to FWD vs. RWD vs AllWD, Live axle vs Independant, ignors areodynamics, track width, wheel base , wheel and tire sizes...shall I go on? That's why I said "assuming all suspension, drive train ...

Re: Hill / Class Records
I'm just asking you to take the info given and group the cars the way you think is most fair for competition. It's simple. Here, I'll go first: Group 1: Car L= 170hp 3490lbs (.05) Group 2: Car B= 215hp 3400lbs (.06) Car K= 205hp 3194lbs (.06) Group 3: Car A= 225hp 3350lbs (P/W ratio = .07) Car I= 24...

Let's play a game, please class the following cars, using group numbers (ie. group 1, group 2, group 3, group 4) : Car A= 225hp 3350lbs (P/W ratio = .07) Car B= 215hp 3400lbs (.06) Car C= 305hp 3565lbs (.09) Car D= 260hp 3237lbs (.08) Car E= 315hp 3450lbs (.09) Car F= 300hp 3500lbs (.09) Car G= 287...
