Mt Philo (VT) hillclimb Oct 14-16 2011

Hoping we might see a few of you up north. I know our cage rules prevent some of you from entering, and for that I'm truly sorry. This a great hill, and a great time of year to come visit Vermont. C'mon up, I guarantee you'll have fun. Camping and RV space is limited, so don't wait to until the last...

Re: CLimb to the clouds

Double smart ass response The event should be called the climb through the clouds. The weather wasn't particularly good, nor particularly bad. I did the timing (at the top of the hill) when Pastrana ran last fall, and the weather was much worse......and that still isn't bad for that place. Believe m...

Re: CLimb to the clouds

Jeremy, you did quite well. I was happy to see the car back on the course for Sunday, especially after seeing where it ended up on Saturday. I did hear the whistle of a boost leak going by Chk 28 on Sunday. You were still cruising along just fine. The other part of the PA contingent did themselves p...

Re: CLimb to the clouds

some cell phone pictures and I'm sure others will start to filter in as folks get back to civilization. http://www.hillclimb.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=579 Good to see some of you. Would have loved to seen some of you get a few more cracks at the top of the hill, as times were starting to fa...

Re: CLimb to the clouds

Congrats, If schedule and budget permits, you should consider trying to do the Burke hill climb earlier that month. It would be a good event to get accustomed to the hills in Northern New England, as well as being a hell of a good time. Makes for a good shakedown run. Also the tech inspector for the...

Re: CLimb to the clouds

Relative to the dirt section, it's more smooth than some of pavement sections. Though I'm not sure if that will stand up over many runs. For the most part the dirt section is fairly straight forward, the turn at the crag is where I think you MIGHT get rutting. Overall I think suspension for bumpy ta...

Re: Mt Philo Hillclimb October 16-17 2010, Vermont.

The horn requirement is for this reason and is required for anyone running the hill. Our workers know to listen during an emergency. Lets say your car has a mechanical between checkpoint 4 and 5. Workers can't see you. They hear you toot the horn twice, it lets them know that you believe yourself to...

Re: Mt Philo Hillclimb October 16-17 2010, Vermont.

Break out is 1:20 at Philo. I took a new to me car, that wasn't caged yet to philo last year. It was my first opportunity to compete there, though I've doing various auto events for the last decade or more. In my 99 subi 2.5 rs as was able to get to the break out by the end of the first day. Car had...

Re: Mt Philo Hillclimb October 16-17 2010, Vermont.

As Sherman mentioned, the rally heritage is strong within our organization. So it's no surprise to find it's rules have similar roots. I would echo Sherman's suggesting of contacting our tech folks listed above. Neha is formed by 3 member clubs, of which we all share the same insurance carrier. So a...

Mt Philo Hillclimb October 16-17 2010, Vermont.

Hopefully this is OK to post here, as I don't believe it conflicts with your schedule this year. We'd certainly love to have some of you folks come up for a visit. You can't beat the scenery from Philo. This is the shortest hill in our series, and one of the smoothest, though it may be a little more...

It was together and going fast this past weekend at Burke. Aside from the paint on the front, you wouldn't know anything happened to it.

Re: Greetings from Vermont

Polish Mtn does sound like fun(re-read one of your reports on the neha list). 10 hour tow. I do have some friends outside of nyc that could make a mid-point break. 10 hours is a long way. I don't know about you folks, but driving tow duty stresses me out more than running up the hill. Maybe I can ge...

Re: Greetings from Vermont

Here's a question for you. My son lives near Brattleboro. If I wanted to come to NH/VT and run one of your hillclimbs, which one would you pick and why? Thanks. Just realized I sidestepped this question. I'd pick burke. Tough to articulate, but the hill just suits me. Typically the attendance is do...

Re: Greetings from Vermont

Then I think the rally car class might just be the one. Brattleboro is in the southern part of the state. I'll give you a summary of the sites and let you choose. Ascutney, probably the closest to Brattleboro, its just up I-91 from Brattleboro. It's in a state park complete with campground, so you c...

Re: Greetings from Vermont

Schedule is the biggest limiting factor. So I may not be able to be too picky about the venue. Realistically, I'm looking for the 2011 season. Then you have to have the stars line up to have the schedules of the PHA, NEHA and my family all line up. As for the PHA rally class, would I need a co-drive...

Greetings from Vermont

Well, I keep hearing exciting reports from Bob and Butch about the hill climbs in PA and thought I'd look into giving one a try this summer or next. I'm hoping you can give me a little guidance. In order for me to pull this off, it will have to be part of full family vacation. So which of the PA hil...
