Re: SCCA Time Trial Annocement

I understand that these new rules are for the "national event only". Can you answer why they would be rules and not supps? It seems everything they are doing are things you are suppose to put in supps. Or, are they just supplemental rules to the TTR rules? It may clear up some confusion if...

Re: Rally class vehicle compliance and tech inspection

Don, can a NA engine produce as much power as they want? Obviously the HP is restricted with turbo cars. I personally think that trying to have a post race inspection is getting a bit too much. What about every other class that we have. Shouldn't they really being doing that in all classes? (Huge ca...

Maybe we should let these guys know that this is not a "real" series. (according to Dave's definition of intent) lol

Re: ITE/Classing of street legal "swapped" cars

FYI Street Unlimited has 7 entry's (over 10% of total entries) in next weeks Dragon hillclimb. https://www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm/event/event.status/uidEvent/B290A9B9-F42F-B8FA-FC7AF0CC806FC368#.VexxU9m9LCT Edit - make that 10 entries. Seems like a class thats very relevant in todays world. Co...

Re: Rally class vehicle compliance and tech inspection

Don, The rules for rally are much better then then were! (there were no rules for rally and any car could run in that class if they wanted). In fact, we almost just dropped the whole class all together. This gets into the debate on how many classes do we really need? I would love to hear what you ha...

Re: Rally class vehicle compliance and tech inspection

Don, I fully admit i did not have much knowledge on rally rules at the time we wrote those. I now have a much better understanding of the rules from building my cage in my car. We used Rally America as the rules to follow just because it was the biggest sanctioning body in the US (and the old SCCA r...

Re: ITE/Classing of street legal "swapped" cars

Dave the whole problem here is we are listening to your opinion on what constitutes a "real" class or series. You do realize that American Iron has 3 classes that are all HP/weight. So, the car's vary widely in their speed. In fact, AIX is unlimited HP and aero mods! (paging Mr Evil) The f...

Re: Please help figure out what class my new toy will fit in

Does it have a full cage? You said roll bar but looking closer it might be caged? (The mag article shows it cages but your pics seem to show a roll bar?) It won't fit into SM but either way specials will work. ITE could have been a class for it but there is some conflict in regards to that class.

Re: Please help figure out what class my new toy will fit in

The car will not be legal to run in the PHA without a full cage with the current rules.

You can go run the Chasing the Dragon hillclimb in NC in street unlimited if you want tho. Good luck!

Re: ITE/Classing of street legal "swapped" cars

If you want some info contact the SCCA clubs from around the country that run ITE and see what their rules are. I did this and I would say that about 60 percent of them had rules that allowed any NASA ST cars. (Not NE region tho) So, I personally don't think it's in bad form or against the SCCA's in...

Re: ITE/Classing of street legal "swapped" cars

I thought STO was no longer a class?

Be prepared to have a heart attack reading the SU rules. It's suggested to have safety equipment equal to your times. But, SM minimum is all that is required. (Ducking, roll bar only)

Re: ITE/Classing of street legal "swapped" cars

Dave, I don't think he was actually legal for anything but specials because of the aero! I have no desire to get back into this BS. I personally thought we had come to an agreement when we wrote the rules. You allow the NASA TT (same rules as above) cars to be able to run in ITE and I would let it r...

Re: ITE/Classing of street legal "swapped" cars

Here is the NASA ST or even TT for that matter car classification form. As you can see, it pushes for production vehicle's by awarding percentage points. It deducts for vehicles are non production (yes those are allowed too but you don't see many competing at the top level because they take too big ...

Re: ITE/Classing of street legal "swapped" cars

Dave, ST is positively a series with national champions for production based cars! SU is the only NASA class that is not. NARRA has a series of production based cars. Same rules pretty much. I understand you may not like the rules but they way they are written seems to say nothing about NASA ST clas...

Re: ITE/Classing of street legal "swapped" cars

Just a fwiw, you are right that NASA goes from PT to ST. Once you hit ST it is s simple power to weight sheet for the rules. It has nothing to do with "real" racecars or whatever. His car is ST legal. So, according to those NASA rules he is ITE legal the way it's written. Dave, your car is...

Re: 2015 Duryea

You will have a blast Cameron! First things, the overnight pits are at the top of the hill. Come race day you drive to the bottom and setup a temporary pit area. So, you need to bring what you need in your car or have someone take it down for you. (Ask for Wankerville and tell them i said to take ca...

Car's do go faster with a cage. :D . You also wreck more often tho. I started pushing way harder once i felt safer. Not sure if that was a good thing or not.

Re: Car classification question

Cameron, To answer your question as best as i can with taking into account the rules that the PHA follow. You will be a perfect fit for ITE. Which means you don't need a fuel cell. You will need at least a "Improved touring legal cage". Which, is a pretty simple common design. You will be ...

Re: Car classification question

I can understand that rules are rules and this is what the PHA wants. But, to say that the "potential" is what is the determining factor in what requires a roll cage vs bar is simply wrong! When you can buy cars from the dealer that have 650hp and could easily fit in a class that only requ...

Re: Car classification question

Don't you love how this works. You are able to run an SCCA hillclimb in the south with just a roll bar but, you are not allowed to in the PHA. Actually , ITE would have been a good fit since it is a class used for most other NASA, NARRA type cars.( yours would have fit fine) But, i caved in to Dave ...
